3.2's normally take cheaper cranksensor, usually around £55 on TC by time VAT is added in.

Never, ever buy from any other source, no matter how genuine it claims to be - far too many fakes out there.

Ordered over the phone with VX for £55 earlier, It should be available to pick up tomorrow  :y ...Just need the weather to behave now.
Last one I did was in the phishing rain on a cold November night in the NEC carpark.  I wanted to tow it home, but she broke my towpole within 10 yards, so had to fix it there :(

Typical  :(

It's always the same, These problems couldn't just happen on a warm dry Summers day  ::)
Oh, I've had one happen in glorious weather...  ...about 20 miles outside Dijon on the A31.

But no spare.

One things for sure when you go through this first had for yourself it makes you think more about it.. Will definitely from now on be carrying all tools required and a spare crank sensor  :y

Diagnosed the MV6 battery as 'needing replacement'. By the scientific method of jumping in after a week dormant, and finding it dead. Jumped off a spare 190E battery I had kicking about...

Passed it's MoT 8) only one advisory... minor surface corrosion  ::)

Haven't washed it though as it promptly had a hissy fit after filling it up >:(

Suspect the alternator as battery light is on and one of the codes showing is 0560... so will simply swap the alternator from the white one and see what happens...  ::)

(Having first checked the voltages as per the guide ;))

Decided that I couldn't be arsed to repaint the replacement N/S door mirror, and that this time of year it would be handy for the heated part to work. So I fitted them both after we got back from the vet.

White one finally alternatorless, black one all working as it should again... 14.2V immediately after starting settling to 13.8V at idle with no load, dropping to 13.2V under load at idle :y

Can't believe that it's taken five hours to do though :o it's only two bolts ffs.

Well there is that... ;D

My issue was that I was trying to refit the top bolt almost blind by finger tip... I guess the easy route is from behind the engine mount, possibly with an extension... but I physically couldn't get my hand anywhere near it even with the steering on full lock to shift the tie rod out of the way... so was having to come at it from under the front corner of the engine...

The second one came out a bit easier... not looking forward to refitting it though. That car is parked on gravel :-X

I've only ever had to attack the alternator from above. Move the coolant reservoir out of the way and you can get down there. Granted you have to feel your way around a bit, but I can think of worse jobs.
