Update on swmbo's accident!
« on: 24 August 2009, 00:09:03 »

Well, since she returned today I have been informed that there was indeed road markings, and that the chap that ran into her was in the wrong lane.

I have had a look over the Megane and although it does not look bad in the pictures, every panel on the near side has been damaged to some effect.

The sill seems quite badly damaged, and the front door is twisted and leaks water.

Have a butchers for yourselves.

Bit of a mess! Good chance that may prove a total loss, sadly, due to the number of panels involved but as Pete said, as long as the missus is ok!

Looks like that could well be off to be made into razor blades in China!

Yep, at main dealer / approved bodyshop prices that will be heading to the big breakers in the sky. If you want to know Glass's price for the car in case they make you an offer, let me know, model, miles, trim level etc.

Don't forget to pop down to the scene Fra and get some pics of the approach, the point of impact and of the intended route from that point :y :y

Doesn't look that bad on the photos?

Bit of work on the sill, and a new door and it should be alright?

Or is the damage worse than it looks? :-/

Like this you mean? ;) :D

Just to clarify. The breadknife was in the right hand lane heading A9 Northbound.
The other car was in the left hand lane, wanting the Dunblane (B8033) cut off.

BTW, her insurance company said its most likely going to be a 50 - 50 claim! :o
Good job she took the following pictures!
I jope this clarifies and confirms Rena's innocence!

It's a bloody shame, the wee car gets no less than 55mpg and can do 75mpg on a run!
It's nippy enough and rather good fun in the twisties.
Well, once you anticipate the turbo lag and the anvil under the bonnet! ;D
Plus £35 a year road tax!
And the boot is (just) big enough for the two dogs.

It's a possible case of salvage buyback and I'll fix it myself and run it into the ground. Wont be to a professional standard but perfectly acceptable.

Cheers for the comments guys, you are certainly on the same wavelength as me. :y

That's not bad fra take onother - from the drivers perspective, nearer the end of that stretch and one at the give way lines to show her intended route and one at the point of impact of course. It's important to show a continuity of progress from the position on the last pic right up to the point of impact

The road markings are directing traffic bound for the B8033 to use the right lane although I would have thought that your wife would have been better in the left lane bound for the A9, although both lanes can be used, I consider the left one to be the safer option on a fast road like that.

It would seem that the other driver was poorly positioned.

Absolutley Zulu.
Personally I would have been in the left lane.
But you can see clearly from the road markings which would have been the lane to be in.
Obviously he didnt! >:(
There are pics of the exits and of the impact scene, but they dont show a great deal.

OK, the assessor said.....

THE FLAMING OBVIOUS!

Whit a pie!

"Er, it needs a wing, door, new sill piece, alloy refurbed and the side of the car painted."

and, my fave.

"Something done with the steering."

When swmbo asked if the car would be written off, he answered;
"Maybe, the car is repairable, but with the current climate, who knows?"

OK, that REALLY inspires confidence.

I'm rather glad I wasn't there.

I would have either;

A: Lost my temper at his lack of knowledge/professionalism.(and get dragged away by the missus)

B: Asked him several questions, (which he probably would not have been able to answer) then lost my temper.(and get dragged away by the missus)

This isn't even my car and she's got me stressed!
