Paid for another years warranty with Vauxhall after three year one expires in December. I do not like the sound of the timing chain slapping the casing on startup, and I definitely don't like the noise the gearbox is making above 30mph.

They'll be the 2 things excluded in the small print then. ::)
Engine and gearbox excluded?  :(
I don't know about the Vauxhall warranty , but aftermarket warranties used to be crap
worn noisy rattling camshaft was not covered by warranty unless the cam actually snapped  :(

Like I said, it can make as much noise as it likes, as long as it keeps going

Fitted new[shorter]auxiliary belt to by pass aircon compressor-what a faff about shifting all that gubbins[technical term]to be able to get at it! At least now it doesn't screech on start up,ran it to bleed the cooling system temp now holds steady but once the fansall 3] were running they wouldn't stop until after the engine had been stopped, possibly due to the high temp today.I'll try it again when the weather is a little cooler. When I stopped the engine the rev counter needle dropped to zero and began fluttering before jumping to show about 200rpm with the engine off and the keys out of the ignition. It started doing this after the radiator was changed but then behaved normally for months after a new battery was installed, but now it seems it's back >:(

Apparently the system was totally empty, but the machine said there were no leaks.  :-\  So we'll see how long it lasts.  ::)

Did see one on the way to the dealer - an estate one in black.

Mrs. KW said it looked like a hearse. ;D
