My generation got the Second World War debt passed on to us, we got through, although we were always skint. Our National debt is so high now partly because of coronavirus, I don't think we can be blamed for that. Two trillion sounds like a huge amount of money but, when I was a lad, a pint of double diamond was 10p, a similar drink would probably be £3-3.50 now, that's inflation. I don't know, but could probably find out, what our debt to GDP ratio is right now. But I'm betting it's not the highest it's ever been.
My only answer to the next generation thing is that we're paying quite a bit to put our lad through uni and, as it's looking highly likely he'll start a PhD in September, that will continue for another three years, so seven in all.
I certainly do not worry about the financial future of our country, simply because there's nothing I, personally, can do about it. We are not in a unique position in the world, and these things have a way of working themselves out. Cheer up, lad  ;D

I don't know why (or even if it's possible) for the World Bank and IMF to take a look at each member countries books before Jan 2020, look at their books December 2021 and write off any accumulated debt/print money to repay the spending between the two dates.

If it were Global-wide, it would be fair.  :-\

Agreed. But I'm afraid you won't get the general (older) population to agree with you, they're 'entitled'. Also, how far do you take it? Should the state pension be means tested?
I have that it would cost almost as much to do the means testing, for the benefits you mentioned, as the money saved. But, hey ho, it is what it is.

Sorry, missed this in the quote;

No, definitely no.  It's what we have paid in for.  It shouldn't be looked at, or relied upon as the sole means of income though, and I think that's where so many have gone wrong.

I dunno.... There are already procedures in place for things like Pension Tax Credits.  Maybe if you were entitled to that, you would also benefit from other concessions?

This may divide opinion;

Prescriptions,
Bus Passes,
Winter Fuel Allowance,
Eye Tests (and vouches for Glasses, Contact Lenses),

Just because you are of 'an age' doesn't automatically mean you are destitute.  There are many, many pensioners who have a very healthy income (and kudos to them), so why are they entitled to 'free' or 'discounted' anything when there are people of a younger age (maybe just a year or two) who cannot afford those same things and are forced to pay for them by-hook-or-by-crook?

It's becoming more prevalent, and rightly so, but all concessions should be means tested, and only handed to those who genuinely need them.

Posh Vectra, passed mot, 1 advisory rear number plate light of 2 not working..

Nice pass!!

I had advisory for that too.  I can't remember what year your is?  If it's pre 2006, good luck with the rusty torx screws and the brittle plastic lens cover.  Later cars tend to have better fixings which don't turn to dust when provoked.

                 Of course, but I’m sure I could see more with the amber lights. Perhaps we should have a poll?

No need for a Poll.  Just get younger eyes again.  There is no way that the shitty old NaV lamps could provide anything like the output of modern lighting.

It's your eyesight going.

I buy literally everything from Amazon, as a Prime customer, the free delivery is a must-have.

Their delivery service is second-to-none around these parts.

I get a message to say the item(s) has been despatched, then a rough time-slot, and then another message when the courier is 8 stops away.

Utterly brilliant.

I’m pretty sure I have shared it in Win 10, will check tomorrow. Which driver do I need? I’m also fairly certain that I downloaded the HP printer driver on the Mac.  :y

If you have the Driver installed on Big Sur, you are good to go.

I think the issue you are having, is Windows 10 is pretty secure.... it's not allowing your Mac access.

If I were in the same position, I'd be buying a USB Printer WiFi Dongle.  Something like This!

In fact.... I've probably got one kicking around in my massive box of useless shit that I'll never need again.

I'll take a look later.  :y

I use the HP Smart App from my phone or wieless printing from my laptop. Does such an app exist for Apples?  :-\

The HP 1512 doesn't have WiFi capabilities unfortunately.

I think Shackeng is having issues with Windows 10 blocking access.  I suspect it would be the same issue if using another Windows 10 machine in lieu of the Mac.  :-\

Have you 'shared' your printer in Windows 10?

Goto;

Printers & Scanners > Click the Printer you wish to Share > Click 'Manage' > Click 'Printer Properties' > Click the 'Sharing' Tab > Check the 'Share This Printer' box > Click OK.

Ensure you have the correct driver for Big Sur installed.

Sorry Opti, but you have no clue about this subject have you.

Apart from humans who can be intersexed and then have brains of many levels of gender identity, read this basic info on the matter:

"The need for a third sex cell and therefore a third body type in order to produce offspring (and inspire a third restroom symbol) has never evolved on Earth. Such an arrangement would be inefficient and biologically costly. But nature does have multiple examples of more than two "mating types" within a species; clam shrimp have a male as well as two varieties of hermaphrodite, which either self-fertilize or mate with males but cannot mate with each other.

Not be outdone, the protozoan Tetrahymena thermophila has seven distinct "sexes" that can hook up and swap genes .

The stark male/female split in many organisms has long puzzled biologists. After all, having three mating types wherein individuals can mate with the two types other than its own boosts the odds of scoring a compatible partner from one in two to two in three, or from 50 percent to 67 percent; and the more varieties, the higher the odds. For stationary creatures, where finding a mate is difficult, multiple mating types have the advantage, said Laurence Hurst, a professor of evolutionary genetics at the University of Bath. For example, mushrooms have more than 30,000 mating types, Hurst told Life's Little Mysteries"

Life IS diverse and goes well beyond just black and white, male and female.  It is a fascinating area of knowledge which I have studied and advise, along with other specialist areas, the police on.

As I have said before, so many old geezers on the OOF are so old fashioned in their thinking and, like their forbears throughout history, well out of line with the true natural facts of life on earth.

The days of only the white men, and only men, being always MEN in respect of stunted emotion and having to be  "never poofs" being prepared to go to war and kill each other in millions without question,  being masters of the universe, are over! ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

You worked with the police?  How come you haven't mentioned it before?

Took 24 hours using Sky's finest interwebbery to upload a 9 minute video...  :o

So I feel your pain ;)

That's not too bad, depending on the video resolution.

A 8K 'raw' video works out at 121.5GB/min, or almost 1.1TB.  Quite a lot to upload!  ;)
