What they called..
« on: 26 July 2018, 21:46:57 »

Anyone got any idea where i can get these from...They are the healights on front of a bait boat for carp fishing...it did have 2 wires attached.
I put a meter across them and got 6v so i know it gets a 6v feed..They are also very bright....That nut is 10mm..so you get the idea of the size...

I'd personally drill them out and silicone fix some new 6v LED's in place.  Classic cars, motorbikes etc use 6v, so plenty on the market.

EDIT:  Is that nut 10mm, or is it a M10 nut?

They look like standard panel mount LEDs to me - google "panel mount LED 6v" and you'll find lots, some that look darned near identical..

Or have a look through here - https://www.mouser.co.uk/Optoelectronics/LED-Indication/LED-Panel-Mount-Indicators/_/N-b1d1p?P=1z0yqrwZ1yox8bj (panel mount, forward voltage of 6V, in case my search parameters don't get stored in the URL)

Yep, me too.

Bear in mind with LEDs, though, that it's the forward current that's important. Unless they have an internal circuit to control the forward current (some do), they aren't safe to simply connect across a supply of a given voltage as you would a bulb.

Where a forward voltage is specified, this is usually a nominal value at a given current but will vary with temperature and between samples of identical LEDs so it's not a supply voltage spec. Normally, they'd be driven with a series resistor to limit the current, sometimes with a more elaborate circuit. It would be wise to check to see if they are being fed through a series resistor in this application as this determines what type of LED would be best as a replacement.

Best to measure the diameter of the threads and also the pitch, (the distance from one thread top to the next, If that makes sense). That will give you the dia. and pitch of the actual thread. HTH. :y

Metric convention is that if you don't state it, then it's coarse.

So M6 actually means M6x1mm pitch.

Spot on aaronjb thats them...But what i done in the end is what Broomies mate said.. That white plastic thing came out easy along with a simple LED bulb..So all i need to do is get hold of a clear LED and put it back in.  :y
