Stopped for lunch just south of Bordeaux where it's 16° .The grinding is getting worse, and the visible metal to metal area is noticeably bigger. So it looks like I'll be doing an emergency rear pad change on Monday, assuming that I can find some

Why the surprise? They've been on there six years, and looked OK the last time I was under there; sometime last summer. Or spring. Or possibly even for the MOT last year If I'd had any suspicion about them, I would have dealt with them before we leftNow we're at my aunt's house, there's a motor factors 6 miles away in the next town. I'll head there on Monday and get a set of pads. They seem to be a fairly common GM fitment. I'm limited by tools and equipment, but I reckon I can safely change brake pads using the scissor jack and a big block of timber for an axle stand.
If scuttle needs sealing, something is wrong. 99 times out of 100, the windscreen seal is not fully seated along the bottom edge of the glass. Push this thoroughly back on.
