I've used either car since Tuesday, bus has not been used for longer. It needs a run next week, might steal it for work.

Drove to the baker to get bread.
Now the back brake is grinding >:(
And with 1200 miles to do before we get home, I'll have to do something about it.

Thawed out SWMBO's Galaxy and drove it to the local garage for an MOT.

I thought that front wheel drive and a heavy diseasal engine would help with traction but it took lots of shovelling to get the battlebus off the drive through 1/2" of dry snow >:(

The Jag has been pretty dependable, a few steep icey slopes around work which others struggled with yet it just cruised past with little drama, was quite surprised with it being rear wheel drive.

I do think tyre width has a great deal to do with it though.

My Jag is utterly shite on anything other that 'hot melted tarmac' :-\

I found the 245/40/18s were fine on my 3.2s, although laterly I did fit winters to them...

And whilst for 99% of our weather, regular tyres are perfectly adequate, winter tyres do make a very marked difference to the worst 30% of our weather.

And having worked all sorts of stupid hours, not getting to work because they haven't gritted is not an option.

Not on mine but SWMBO,s Mundano, she chose the little used back lane to go to the station. Road blocked by two vans in the ditch, she reversed without looking, straight in and then onto the snow drift beaching it. Tearful phone call to me had me having to leave work to go and dig it out.
Mind you, the local farmer was well pissed. He tried to drive past with his Manituo telescopic fork lift and put that into the ditch ::) :D ;D.
Local marine unit police helped us get it out as it was truly beached. They had a Land Rover with only one diff working

Is she like mine? Unable to reverse using mirrors, so peers hopelessly at an angle sort of rearwards, and is then surprised to hit something. No chance she could reverse into a parking slot. 8)

Took the 190 for an MOT. It failed on a track rod end and a numberplate bulb (which I should have noticed before).
Advisories on rear tyres, and play in front wheel bearings.
Not bad for 28 years old and 236000 miles I suppose.

1 or 2, as I was being a good boy (travelling in works time), plus trying to improve on my previous tank average of 27mpg ;D

I'd be surprised if even your powers of car destruction extended to killing a bearing in less than 100miles!

Did Jaaaaag fit it for you? I'd be mildly vexed to say the least!
I would sooner a 2yr old fit it than any of the Jag dealers around here.  You'd be off your rocker to let any of them to touch your car ;)

Mrs TB has had no real issues with her 245/40/18s on TBE, though she did say the TC light flickered as she came up the hill through the estate...  ...but no dramas

New 246 coil pack. Seems to be running steady on the requisite No of cylinders again.
Snowy roads are no place for an omega that might  unexpectedly fire on all 6.

Good news no oil down the holes, bad news snow run off prevented scuttle being sealed.

Tin foil protection for now.

If scuttle needs sealing, something is wrong. 99 times out of 100, the windscreen seal is not fully seated along the bottom edge of the glass.  Push this thoroughly back on.

Stopped for lunch just south of Bordeaux where it's 16° :y .
The grinding is getting worse, and the visible metal to metal area is noticeably bigger.
So it looks like I'll be doing an emergency rear pad change on Monday, assuming that I can find some >:(
