Directional indicator arms that came out like an arm.

Hand signals

Blue exhaust smoke from so many vehicles

Rust Holes all over cars bodywork

Full bench seats front as well as back

No seat belts

Chrome trim all over.

Cars with American styling and wings

Thick tar being spread from the back of a lorry, then grit racked over the top - oh, the lovely smell 8)

Petrol station attendants filling your car with petrol and checking the oil

Petrol and oil only sold in gallons

Policemen on point duty with checkered bracelets around their coat sleeves

Bells on emergency vehicles ringing when on a 999 - wonderful as a child 8)

Fire engines with ladders having big wheels on the end of them

Double de-clutching

Chokes

Cross-ply  tyres

Drum brakes all round

No power steering so big steering wheels

Cigarette ash and stubs spilling out of the ash trays and all over the interior

Male drivers smoking pipes

Stick on rear screen heater de-misters

Roof racks

Nodding dogs

Tax discs

Spare wheel on the boot lid

Many people going to the pub and driving when well over a limit that didn’t then exist

Side valve engines

Tappets

Small red covered licence book

........just so much that has gone into history!

 ;D ;D :)

I've still got one of the little red covered book licences in a drawer with the petrol ration coupon booklet from the mid 70s :o

You DO still see hand signals, ut I can't seem to find their meaning in the Highway Code!

Same here.  :y  Twin cassette decks, CD player (as it's a later style one) and radio with a big speaker on either end. It still sounds pretty good as well.  :y

Mine is too early for the CD player, but the speakers are detachable for that wider stereo sound and also has a graphic equaliser!  8)

You posh bugger  ;) mine was my uncle's, a twin tape AM/FM/LW radio jobbie. Also had a Mic plug so you could use it as a PA or record your karaoke.

Used to live in my garage/shed for listening to radio 1 or TMS on long wave until it went bang one day.  :-[

Shows how long ago I got rid as it's closer to two decades ago than one since I thought radio 1 was an acceptable station.  ;D

Used to have to dodge them on our walk to school in the 1970's

Never did work out what the poor dogs were eating  :-\
