You'll need insurance to drive the Signum to the scrappy as well.  :y

As the pre-booked appointment wheeze doesn't work for the scrappy, you'll need to tax it.  So you might as well get them to pick it up.  :)

Forget insurance payouts.... if you have insurance, and you're on your way to a pre booked MOT and get stopped without Tax or MOT - you have a valid exemption to the tax and test, and will be let on your way.

Have no insurance, and you'll be walking away with at LEAST a £200 fine, and 6 points. I say walking, because your car will almost certainly be seized under S165 too (google it).

Re my Astra - it was £30 odd for a months cover. Total no brainer to be totally road legal, especially in a car you haven't built trust in yet :y :y

That hurts. That really hurts. Future classics like the mighty Signum must be kept well away from the crusher at all costs. :)
