Had an interesting experience at the Opel dealer in Granada town here in Spain.

I would like six spark plugs for this vehicle please? Here is the Spanish log book- same details as a UK car which it was prior to export and re registration.

After a very, very long search he came back with 6 plugs and said "I think these are the ones, if they aren't bring em back!" (Most Omegas in Spain are diesels) £21 for the six.

They came in Opel boxes with a bar code 12 14 000 and on the other side 9195109 on it. The end of the box has 0 242 229 627 712 755 (09 .99) the other end has 1#9195109  GR.02.270  12 14 000

On the 10 mm plug itself it says  FLR8LDCU GERMANY 681 . They have a brass top, 4 blue bands and GM 000 in blue. They also have twin electrodes.

While I wait for my ebay flexible 10 mm spark plug socket to come from the Uk, can anyone confirm these are the right ones please?

GM/Vauxhall plugs are mage by Bosch.

FLR8LDCU is the correct Bosch part number for X25XE and X30XE. This is the twin-electrode plug originally fitted to the 2.5 and 3.0 engines. Vauxhall quote change at 40,000 miles / 4 years.

FGR8KQE0 is the Bosch part number for Y26SE and Y32SE. This is a four-electrode plug originally fitted to the 2.6 and 3.2 engines. It can be retro-fitted to the 2.5 and 3.0. Vauxhall quote change at 80,000 miles / 8 years.

So it would seem that the plugs you have are the correct ones for your car.

I've had the ('wrong') 4 electrode plugs in my 99 3.0 Elite for the last years or so, if that's any help.

The 2.6/3.2 engines have modified emission control and lower compression ratio, and they will need the four-electrode spark plug and shouldn't be fitted with the older two-electrode type.

But the newer four-electrode spark plugs can be retro-fitted to earlier 2.5/3.0 engines as replacement to the original two-electrode ones.

However, the only advantage of using four-electrode spark plugs in the older 2.5/3.0 engines is the longer service life, there will be no noticeable difference is performance or fuel economy. But since I wouldn't recommend leaving the plugs in the engine for 80k anyway (I changed my four-electrode ones at 40k) - in practical terms there is no need to bother about getting four-electrode plugs for the older 2.5/3.0 engines.

Incidentally, the longer service life is the result of doubling the number of electrodes - since only one electrode actually fires at any given point of time, the theory is that the wear is halved when using a four electrode plug instead of two-electrodes...
