Of course...should have relised that. :-[

Well fuses all look ok (assuming there all located below steering wheel) so a trip to local garage is needed to get the fan checked as suggested. :(

The drain exits in the ns wheel arch up to '97.
'98 on exits onto the chassis rail in the engine bay. (designed to help it rust?)

Have you been able to check if the fan is free to turn?
When water gets into the speed controller it sets up corrosion around the gate drive to the power FETs so the fan tends to be permanently on but it could affect the circuit in many ways.

If the fan is free then look for another controller from a scrapper...must have climate, not manual controls. If the fan feels tight go for the whole fan assy, its likely that the motor shaft is rusted and would be noisy even if you freed it off.

My pre-facelift has an issue with the ECC controller. They seem to be fairly fragile. I either got hot or cold and nothing in between. A replacement controller shouldn't be mega money from a breakers.

Mine does this but ive narrowed it down to the stereo interferring with the temp sensor. Heat from the headunit rises and then gives the sensor an inaccurate reading of the interior temp. Narrowed it down to this after leaving the stereo off and it was working fine.

Not the best position for a temp sensor, directly above a piece of equipment that builds up a lot of heat  ;)
