« on: 02 December 2019, 21:17:50 »
Swmbo has had her Sony vaeiou for years and has been happy with it but its getting near the end of its life apparently.
She has a budget of approx. £800 to replace it but isn't sure what to go for.
Knowledgeable advice/ opinions welcome.
Tia.

The switch that needs cleaning isn't under the gearstick. Its under the car on the o/s of the gearbox.

Neither of whom are  people who achieved their success through pure talent and sportsmanship, but neither were they in the same league as Scummy, for lack of sporting ethics.
Speaking of which, I see Ferrari received a small fine for putting too much fuel in LeClercs car for yesterdays race, and will also retain their veto over new rules when the new formula comes in in 2021.
How can they still call it a sport ?

Yup, so best to accept it as one of those foibles all cars have and change them once in a while. Probably about every three years/ 12k miles in my case.

Maybe Corbyns great deal with the EU he keeps talking about (which he wont divulge if he would vote on favour of) would involve the EU subsidising our railways to the tune of £xx billion p.a. on the condition our contributions increase by £xxx p.a.

Sounds like it needs a thermostat change and gearbox selector switch cleaned. All perfectly doable diy if your reasonably handy with spanners.
Have a look in the maintenance guides section for info on the work involved in these jobs.

The chimp would have higher moral standards and ethics though.

Me too. Thankfully it will probably be broken by someone who is a genuine sportsman who doesn't need to delve into the dark arts and dirty tricks to achieve success.

If I could afford to drive the Omega all the time I would get rid of it and buy a Boxster.
It has done less than 4k miles in the last year, so that will be a contributory factor in the discs problem. Might try and get some genuine VX discs before Trade club shuts down.

Im too old and facked for that sort of caper. Parts will be sourced and then fitted on a day when the weather isn't too Baltic, whenever that may be. If it has to wait until April then so be it.

General Discussion Area / Hamiltons number 44 - Vauxhall.
« on: 02 December 2019, 16:41:37 »
Watched a great interview yesterday, where Hamilton was interviewed by a 10 year old boy. He asked why he always has number 44 as his race number.
Hamilton told him that years ago his Dad had a Vauxhall Cavalier with number 44 in the registration number, so his Dad chose that as his race number and he has stuck with it ever since.
Who,d have thunk it ?

Yep bottom balljoint, which is bolted on as I replaced them before, so also an easy job.

Well, the Omega passed but it did have a couple of advisories on front disc inner face corrosion and play in a balljoint. A couple of little jobs for after Christmas I think.

Labour have just announced that they will cut rail fares by 33% in January if they win the election ! The Rainforest may be disappearing fast, but apparently the money forest is growing even faster.
This would surely involve enormous state subsidy of the rail industry. Don't the EU have laws against that kind of thing ?
