Radio adverts for EVs..
« on: 19 February 2018, 09:45:21 »

I was reminded of these reading the LPG thread, but thought I'd save polluting (har) that thread with EV talk.

Anyway.. radio adverts "If you have questions about electric vehicles, talk to X" and their pretend questions include:

"Can it get wet?"
"Can it go through a car wash?"
"If I charge my phone will the battery go flat?"

Seriously people, if you have to ask if a car is going to explode if it gets wet, do us all a favour and take your new EV for a long drive off a short pier... :o

Are these the questions the powers that be really feel "average Joe" is going to have regarding electric vehicles? All hope is lost :(

Yep, and for good reason. There are plenty of people around who could do the world no end of good by taking a long drive on a short pier. :y

As there are more people of the sort that you have just described, Kevin, then carrying out your policy (with TB's permission) would solve the planet's overpopulatio problem!  :y 8)

Yes, and it would doubtless result in the scrappage of large numbers of mainly Ford Focuses, which he would also find pleasing.  :y

Better questions

Has the earth got enough Cobalt?
Has the earth got enough Copper?
Why are they so expensive when the technology has been around so long ( thinking disability scooters here)?
Will there be enough charging points?
How will all the extra electricity be generated?
can I get an aftermarket V8 noise generator fittedwithout affecting guarantee?

Yep, those are the elephants... Over there in the corner, see? ;)

That reminds me. I've got Emma's nan's mobility scooter cluttering up my garage. Must get on and sell it. I'd be tempted to try my first EV commute on it but I doubt I'd survive, TBH. ;D

I hope you have been charging it! The batteries don't like inactivity.

As for the experience. Only a well drilling rig  http://www.streicher-drillingtechnology.de/en/business-sectors/vdd-vertical-onshore/mobile.html    has a higher centre of gravity so corners at 8 m.p.h are tricky

I can honestly say hand on heart  I will never ask any questions on electric cars , I know all I need to know from watching milk floats when I was a kid, it's V8 petrol or nothing for me.

I seem to remember the little pale blue invalid cars from the sixties and seventies were battery powered.

As kids we would refer to them as a 'cripple carriage' or 'spaz chariot'......... Terms probably not considered politically correct in 2018. :)
