Exhaust join help
« on: 21 June 2017, 16:49:47 »

The Imrscher backbox on TBE is the usual Irmscher twin outlet affair, one outlet each side.  The O/S pipe attaches to the pipe coming out of the backbox silencer, just behind the tank, using a metal ring, and an exhaust clamp that clamps both halves of the exhaust to this ring.

What is the ring called, as TBE's is probably somewhere along the M40 :(

TIA

Your local motor factors will have them; I've bought them as both exhaust sealing rings and exhaust olives. You buy them by size, and they take on the concave shape when you tighten the clamps.

Sure my 106 one was tapered both sides :-\

The irmsher one is a solid lump, which rots from the outside in...

Think the fracas has one as well :-\

I'd call that a graphite doughnut gasket. And ask for one that's tapered both sides

Should be easy to get, they were standard fit on Astra G/Zaf A (and yes they were tapered on both sides) described as a conical exhaust seal

astra g and honda are single side taper at the flange,

it looks similar to my volvo 850, a band clamp holding a ball and cup together

The conical one I bought was only tapered one side, hence this thread :)
