Omega General Help / Automatic Headlight Levelling
« on: 07 October 2020, 12:36:51 »
Hi all, I've recently moved to Germany and have just taken my 2002 2.6 CDX for a TuV (German MoT) so I can get it registered here. Only failed on the automatic headlight levelling... The tester got me & another fitter to sit in the boot to see if they worked but nothing was happening. Any ideas where I should start looking? How quickly should the lamps move downwards? Two hefty blokes sitting in the boot should be enough weight on the back, shouldn't it?

Omega General Help / Driving Abroad
« on: 21 July 2020, 13:33:50 »
Hi all.... after a bit of help & advice - I always thought there was no way to switch xenon headlights over to driving on the right. According to the handbook you can switch over standard headlights but there is no reference to xenons. It's never bothered me in the past and I've never been flashed at (oo-er) when driving at night on the continent but, after 7 years of ownership, I've just discovered there's a tab on the headlight with arrows and L & R...   Are xenons switchable? The main reason for asking now is that I'm moving to Germany in a couple of weeks and taking Oma with me. I had planned on getting new German lamps or lenses to get it through the TUV and then registered there. I've got a pic of the tab on the top of the headlight but I don't seem to be able to attach it (?)    Thanks for any advice, Rich

Further to my previous post 'Water in A Pillar', I've now found that there must be a split in the sunroof drain tube running down the A pillar...   How the heck do I fix this ?   :(

Omega General Help / Water in A Pillar
« on: 03 March 2017, 20:06:07 »
Aaarrgghhhh !!!  Discovered a water leak in the car this morning - dripping from half way up A pillar on driver's side. Had a quick look after work : removed rubber bung and inserted my Aldi 'endoscope' to have a look - only a few bits of leaf litter and no water or dampness. Pushed a length of cable down sunroof drain at least a metre and half and felt no resistance until it came to a firm stop. Have had a look in General Help section but couldn't find a reason for where the blockage might be.... Any ideas as to where the sunroof drain channels and off-side scuttle drains out to..?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated !

Does anyone know how I can find out the date of manufacture of my Omega? Or is the VIN or chassis number not specific to the actual date, only year..?

Omega General Help / Winter Tyres
« on: 08 November 2015, 17:03:08 »
We're off to Germany in December, so I've just picked up a set of Intra alloys - 7 x 16 - to put on a set of Winter Tyres.... Just after a bit of advice as to which 'budget' brand to go for and what choice of tyre size and speed rating I could go down to.... Cheers, Rich.

Omega General Help / Rear Number Plate Holes
« on: 07 August 2015, 08:37:52 »
Quick question - does the Omega come with pre-drilled holes in the rear bumper for attaching number plate surrounds (as all German Opels would have fitted) ? My Perspex one is stuck on and I'm waiting for a pair of these German number plate surrounds to turn up soon...

Omega General Help / Fault Codes 0120 & 0220 TPS etc...
« on: 17 June 2015, 13:00:00 »
Right, I've got an intermittent sticky rev counter and using the pedal trick have got fault codes 0120 & 0220 relating to TPS... Have cleaned the Throttle Body & Butterflies (with plenum in-situ) and the sticking/ jumping rev counter has gone from c. 1500 rpm to c. 2500/3000 rpm. I'd say it has an intermittent slight mis-fire but most of the time it runs very sweet. I started looking into this when I wanted to change the plugs and found the 2/4/6 bank full of rain water & oil. Have now replaced cam-cover gasket, coil pack and plugs and will be fitting the scuttle back with a bit of sealant between the joins, once I've resolved the TPS fault code & rev-counter/mis-fire issue. Am just not sure how to solve the TPS fault problem... Any ideas? P.S. - it's an '02 2.6 DBW CDX...

Omega General Help / Auto to Manual, using donor car
« on: 03 May 2015, 16:24:47 »
Just want a bit of advice and/or opinions... I've got an '02 2.6 cdx MANUAL and have seen a nice 3.2 MV6 AUTO of the same vintage. Would it be worth converting the 3.2 to Manual & the 2.6 to Auto (and then selling the CDX...)?
