The Jap
« on: 23 April 2016, 13:16:57 »

Last weekend I picked up my replacement for the Omega after what seems like an age since I paid the deposit.

It`s a 2012 Nissan 370z GT Edition, one of only 84 manuals in the UK, finished in metallic pearlescent white with dark anthracite wheels and comes with full Nissan service history, bought from a committee member in the Nissansports car club.
Not to everyones tastes or needs but I`ve hankered after one since they came out and i absolutely love it  8)

Here`s a few snaps for anyone interested

TBH I`m not keen on the look of the GTR, good car but not pretty like the 370z

And just pulling up at my mums earlier and there was an original Z280 coming the other way  8)
very nice  :y :y

Mr Beanz would say so as he prefers sludgepumps but I think what you`re referring to is the foot rest  :y

I`m sure it will serve me well, it`s comfortable, quick and got everything I need.

I like the older stuff but I like my toys like mp3`s, aircon and hands free calling which is why I plumped for something newer, if I was going old school it would have been a Quattro though.

Lovely car mate. Not to my personal taste but I bet it goes. I'm hankering for a Jag xf. I'll sadly never afford one though lol

Enjoy it  :y

Agreed ;D ;D the 260Z wasn't too bad but the 280ZX (I think that was its name) was woeful for a sports car.

Many years ago we had a 240 in the garage for tin worm removal  :o but it looked fast just sitting over the pit :y

Yep....Datsun had lost the plot by then. The 280Z was suitable for 'lard arsed' yanks only.

Very nice car chap!

I've always had a soft spot for these but never been in or driven one. How is it to drive?

Very nice car chap!

I've always had a soft spot for these but never been in or driven one. How is it to drive?

They drive very well, very comfortable and handle well with the suspension being firm but not harsh, although with my car being a GT Edition it has revised suspension for UK roads and a bit more sound deadening added which became standard on the 2013 model onwards. What the suspension is like on the earlier models I don`t know but road noise was a criticism on the earlier cars.
My car is a manual and the gearshift is short and precise and the clutch is no heavier than the Omega.
With having 245 front tyres on 9" wheels it does tramline a little but I might have a trip to Nigel Langs in Bolton to get the geometry checked out.
Rear visibility isn`t too good as the boot line is quite high but from 2013 onwards a colour reversing camera was standard and is a must although there is a guy on the Nissansportz forum that can supply a colour reversing camera kit to fit to earlier models equipped with the built in satnav.
They are quite nippy too, having 328bhp and a six speed gearbox so overtaking is just that bit easier when you`re stuck behind the dawdlers  ::)

I love it, it`s a comfortable, quick GT car that looks good and you don`t see many on the roads which makes it a bit more unique, well worth booking a test drive at your local Nissan dealership to see if you like it or not.

Very nice. Tbh it's a car I had "forgotten" about when making my choice for a new one. Probably because they are so uncommon on our roads. I think the rear visibility is just down to modern styling/safety. Other than cars that are totally vertical at the back (like swmbo's yeti) I've found rear visibility to be poor on every new/nearly new car I've driven.

There's something very nice about a big displacement lump up front and rwd.

They are very uncommon on our roads but that's what I like about it, Audi`s and BMW`s are everywhere, as for the poor rear visibility I think it`s just down to the styling rather than any safety related issue  :y

Great choice I really like the look of those, very purposeful when storming up in the rear view mirror !
