WhatsApp is a Facebook company that allows wifi calling... For example  ;)

Of course..... but you don't need a third party App to make calls over WiFi.  :y

Does it have Stop/Start?

It does! And I think it's something to do with that ....

It's definitely to do with that.  :y

but that alone or something else too? If I sit with the ignition at auxiliary with 'thing's on eg wipers, heated seats, radio, heater fan  ... are they supplied by the big starter battery under my seat or the baby battery in the back? I wouldn't imagine the baby battery would last very long.  :-\ :-\

All I remember on the W251, the Aux battery solely used for the S/S system.  Something in the back of my head is saying it will also allow the transmission to move from Park to Neutral in event of a main battery failure..... although that could be S-Class only.  :-\

Yes, if you like giving all your data to Facebook...

What has Facebook got to do with WiFi calling?  ;D

I dont even pick the phone up to see who is ringing.  All my friends get different ring tones. (Both of them)

This says you do!

Thought the car accident calls might have stopped by now, but No, I still get them.

We all know there is a scam , but are they actually aster or are they just harvesting data in some way.

My usual responce when asked about my car accident.

Is it the the Bentley of Lambo you are ringing about?

or

Which one, which day, I had 5 accidents this week.

or

You tell me you have the details in front of you.

or

. . . . . . . . . Speak then

It's in their interests to get it cleared as presumably they can only charge for ships that actually get through the canal...

Imagine abandoning an artic across the Dartford Crossing tolls... They'd have it moved before lunch ;D

I'll guess that the shipping companies pre-pay for transit through the canal.  Even if that's a few tens of thousands of pounds, it will be refunded as the ship was unable to pass (much like buying an airline ticket, but the runway is unusable).

That's just a drop in the ocean... what about all the goods, the port fee's, the fuel costs, the staff wages?

If you're using heavier trailers and delivering anything heavier than an old Mini or Sprite, then the Omega is only suitable, and safe, to deliver the empty trailer.

Rubbish.
I can tow far heavier than an 'old Mini' or 'Sprite' My car trailer is a twin axle, with double 16' wheel beds (rather than the heavier flat bed) which are positioned between the axles rather than above them (as on a heavier flat bed) so the centre of gravity is low. It has an unladen weight of 740kg, and my 1970s Triumphs have an unladen weight of 23cwt (1170kg), so I am slightly above the stated permissible towing weight of 1850kg when towing those.
I accept that I am probably over on the towball nose weight, but the laden trailer sits well; only slightly lower at the nose than the tail, but this is preferable for stability purposes. The outfit is very stable when laden.
The 85% suggested towing weight by the CC is only a a guide and was suggested way back when vehicles towing cabilities were a lot less - 100% is quite acceptable with more modern vehicles.
The Omega is one of the best tow cars I've had; however the Range Rover is the absolute king of towing vehicles I've had experience of,  but some 4WD SUV's have laughable towing capabilities....

Johnny.....  I'm afraid you are arguing black is black, but stating it is white.

DG is correct.

REGARDLESS of whether you, I or indeed anyone else thinks its 'perfectly ok'...... it's not in the eyes of the law.

With all these row-boats being unable to make their destination.......... who's actually paying for it?

Logically, I'm thinking the Ever Given would be insured against late port-fee's, delayed goods, perished goods etc, as it's technically had an accident..... it cannot physically move.

What about all the others?  Claim from Evergreen's insurance?  Furthermore, do the Egyptian Government have a claim?

I suspect many of us have goods waiting in containers on those ships.... apart from getting a refund on the delivery charge, what recourse is there for the humble end-user?

It does rather beg the question as to why you would do that though ???

No.  It begs the question as to WHY this rule has been put in place.  As Andy quite correctly says, his 2,200KG car would be far safer towing a 1500KG trailer than a 1500KG car towing a 1500KG trailer.

The law is an ass!

Only if you have +E on your car entitlement  ;)

https://www.gov.uk/towing-with-car

Licences issued from 1 January 1997

If you passed your car driving test on or after 1 January 1997 you can:

drive a car or van up to 3,500kg maximum authorised mass (MAM) towing a trailer of up to 750kg MAM
tow a trailer over 750kg MAM as long as the combined MAM of the trailer and towing vehicle is no more than 3,500kg

Isn't that what Andy said?

There's a reason why many of the bigger pick ups have two batteries. ....

My ML has 2 batteries  ... 1 under the driver's seat & another motorbike type battery in the boot area. I've yet to get 2 answers the same as to what the little battery is for.

Does it have Stop/Start?

Overall I think the old drivers would come out on top because they would just need to 'relearn' power, speed, acceleration, grip levels which would soon become second nature to them.

New drivers would need to overcome the fear they could very well die in a wall of fire. This is the harder thing to overcome and I'm not sure many current F1 drivers would really be up for it.

Just like learning anything....... depends on how much time you allow.

You are basically asking a Cessna 152 Pilot to captain an A320.  The basics of flying are there, but the controls are a whole different ball-game.

I know it is not possible but I would love to see the drivers (at their peak) from the sixties and seventies against the new drivers, in the same car(s)

They wouldn't stand a chance...... much the same as the 'new' drivers wouldn't stand a chance in the 60's/70's cars.
