this is what i get on 20mb

Judging by those figures, when you switch to 50Mb, you'll have one of the best domestic internet connections in the UK!  :y

You wont notice a difference though  :P  ;)

just checked my upload speed will be 5mbps  which means sod all to me

In all honesty, Fibre Optic is generally 'What you see is what you get', but I'll chew off my own left bollock if you get anywhere near 5Mb/s after 3 months of service!

Such a technologically advanced country the UK is, yet we reign 64th in the Internet Connection list.  Premiership we are not!

I forget when they upgraded the upstream - must be at least two or three months ago now;

Anyway, upstream is really not an issue for probably 90% of users - then again, neither is 50Mbit downstream. How many people do you know who upload more than a few emails? (And no, torrents don't count)

A few years ago, I'd very much agree with you, but the Upstream Speed is now as important as Downstream Speed.

Take your Games Console as one example.
Video 'conferencing' to your relatives in the USA or Aus as another.

I am exceptionally pleased that Virgin have taken the first step to a 'decent' connection.  BT are supposedly spending billions on converting all copper to Fibre Optic in the next decade.  A step which has taken far too long to implement.

It's a real boggle when far poorer, less technologically developed countries can trounce on our 'technological brilliance'.

I get upto 8Mb connection free as part of the telephone package (I make a lot of international calls, so TalkTalk are the only company I will go with)
Not too bad seeing as I'm a million miles from the exchange.  They are running my connection on what I told them to and not what they 'thought' was best though.

theyve just upped the upload speed apparently  not sure of the figures though

Just as an example, Romania has an AVERAGE upload speed 10x faster than the AVERAGE UK upload speed.

Their average download speed is less than 2.5x the average UK download speed.

I haven't chosen Romania as a comparison just because they are an exception, this is true for the majority of the world.

I always get confused why the average/advanced home user pays a lot of money for an Uber fast Internet connection.

Even for streaming HD movies, a 20Mb/s connection is overkill.

Even massive corporations who use t'interweb to back up Gigabytes of data every hour/evening cant make use of a silly download speed.

What this country needs is a massive increase of Upload speed!  That will make the Internet a proper network!

My blood pressure isn't rising. I'm superfit! So shall I take that as 'no, you can't justify killing innocent animals'?

As you wish!  :)

edit:  You would claim a life for killing a life.  So, is it eye for eye in your eyes?  I'm so glad I wasn't trained in your camp, sir.

(I called you sir as I guess you are older than me 1970 being your birth date?)

Anyway, I'm to bed.  I have work in the morning. Sweet dreams.

IMHO, the best way of reducing airgun-related incidents is education, not regulation.

As a young child, I wasn't even allowed a toy gun.  Once I was old enough, and had had firearms safety drummed into me so it became second nature, my dad started to take me out shooting with him.  I've done the same with my children.

As the old adage says - a gun will not kill anybody; it's the person behind who does.

As I say - educating people about firearms safety is the key element.

Exactly!

Next we'll have to lock our kitchen knives in a cabinet, and the Chain Saw, Hedge Trimmer, Ball Point Pen.............................

Once again, common sense is being removed from our young.  I sincerely hope there is a revolt of massive proportions soon!  I'm a very peaceful man, but this kind of thing boils my piss.

I can think of more important things that would 'boil my piss'.

Common sense dissappeared along time ago. That's why there's so may arrogant 'only care about myself' selfish blanks out there.

Yes, you might behave in the correct way, but there's an increasing majority who don't. As always they spoil it for the rest. Some people are incapable and unwilling to be educated.

Society makes laws to protect people from themselves and each other, and being young and fit myself, and having being shot a number of times, it hurts, but as said, I'm young and fit so can still defend myself. More vulnerable people can't. These are the people society needs to protect from our resident idiots.

If you were to check, gun crime has significantly decreased (nationally) over a couple of decades.

Knife crime peaked just over 5 years ago (decreasing slightly since).

Wouldn't we be better of sticking the Kitchen Devil's in a locked cabinet?

I wont go into detail, because it's my business and I dont talk about that stuff, but I've had several thousand rounds of serious ammunition, including missiles fired at me and my colleagues.  Thankfully, I dont have any physical wounds to prove this.

On another note, shooting animals or pests, vermin, whatever is actually a good thing when done in a controlled manner.  DOnt forget that us as humans introduced (example) The Grey Squirrel.  Kill 'em all!

Do you want a medal? I've got plenty.

Knife crime, as some sort of comparison is irrelevant. It doesn't matter if gun crime has dropped. One gun crime is one too many. And as for people saying about good parenting etc, if we had good parenting across the country, we wouldn't be in the lawless state we're in.

I don't care if we introduced grey squirrels or not. What then is your justificaation for killing them?

You say 'kill 'em all'. I say kill all the arrogant arseholes who shoot animals.

Well done on earning your medals.  We should get together someday and celebrate what efforts we have put in.   :y

As for the differing opinion on air rifle laws and vermin control, I will bow out and allow you to continue your strong hearted debate.  It's less than prudent to get blood pressure rising over a keyboard.  ;D

Exact symptoms as I had this week.

Came home from work at 10am Monday as I just couldn't carry on.  Took Tuesday off, back to work on Wednesday but really didn't want to.  I'm feeling ok now, ok enough to cram a beer down my throat anyway.

I'm a very fit and healthy 28yr old and it knocked me for 6.

For the first time EVER, Fully Comprehensive policies have become cheaper than TPFT policies.

Insurance companies have statistics that people who take on Comprehensive Cover are more likely to take care of their vehicle and are less likely to have an accident.

Give it a go.  :y
