anyone know about towing hitchs?
« on: 24 March 2013, 14:48:56 »

I've got a bradley doublelock which is I think 10 years or more old.  It is a loop handle type.  There is a hole beneath the loop handle that looks like it takes a pin to " double lock" then handle but I'm guessing.  It's an inherited trailer.  does anyone khow what goes in to lock the handle down?

thanks

Aren't they called Barrel locks? I had an old trailer with one. It won't stop a determined thief but it's also good for locking the trailer to the car.

I think the barrel lock is for the new type.  this is a 8mm ish hole through the full hitch

Sounds like the same hitch on my jetski trailer, got a good padlock on it and it basically stops anyone unhitching the trailer from the tow ball like when I have launched the ski and popped the empty trailer back onto the car and I can be reasonably confident that when I get back to the car the trailer will still be there.

Bradley made - don't know if you can still buy them - a fancy bolt with a lockable "nut" to go through the hitch to lock it in position, either on the tow car or off .. it prevents the hitch lever being "raised" and so if on a ball you can't get it off , if not on a ball you can't get it on ....

Not seen one for a long time as most 'vans have gone to combined hitches/stabilisers.
