Saw a old S reg 2.3L Mk2 Granny in Waitrose car park in Ely this afternoon. Was diamond white but apart from a little surface rust along the bottom of the doors it looked quite clean.
Bet it looked smaller than you remember it.

They always do because cars of today are proper 'fat bastards'

I saw an old Austin 1300 a few months ago and it looked as though it had shrunk in the wash. Tiny. :)

The Zephyr/Zodiac Mk3 was the model that was most common in my youth.

I thought they were huge way back then but as you say.......... :)

my sister sold hers(a red and white two door) a couple of years ago, and said the easiest way to find it in a carpark was to spot the people looking into an empty space in the row.

Weight of modern cars is another issue; the original Elise, with its plastic body, all aluminium drivetrain and chassis and no interior is acclaimed as a featherweight at 'only 725kg', yet an Avenger is only 100kg heavier. And that's a comfortable 4 seat saloon made of steel using a castiron engine and live axle.

Agreed. There are very few even small cars under 1000KG these days.

Speaking of the Austin/Morris 1300.......I always loved the 1300GT as a kid, with it's BVR,  fancy wheels and bright colours. :y

Anything with 100bhp used to be plenty quick enough to have serious fun in, when the average car weighed well under a ton.
Much more fun than what we have for quick cars these days.

Yep. It would be for sale for £30,000 instead of the £2300 I sold it for in 1983.
