when I first start my dti the eml will stay on for a short while & will go off usually when I give the accelerator a boot. the car is responding as it should so it hasn't bothered me. if I was to guess one of the small pipes may have a leak. once it goes out it never appears again until its been left overnight,

My bet is P1640 glow plug general fault, given the symptoms.

bet you are right too. clue that I got - phoned a local garage to put it on a code reading machine but they wanted for me to leave it, I explained I couldn't do that & he went on to say without any prompting that he would be able to get glow plugs within a hour.  :y
