Lambda sensor for 1999 2.5 petrol 3 wire
« on: 26 March 2019, 10:21:44 »

1999 2.5 petrol manual estate
This car is due MOT, am changing LH cat, have removed lambda sensor, but thread looks damaged and cat label recommends fitting a new lambda sensor. Searching e-bay there are lots there; will any 3 wire cat do the job?

If the sensor was previously working, refit it :y

Could be tricky with a knackered thread, of course. ;)

Narrowband lambda sensors are of two types - Zirconia and Titania. I know some of the 4 pot Omegas used Titania sensors which are quite rare but I'm pretty sure the V6s all used Zirconia which are common as muck so most generic sensors would probably be OK provided you can adapt the wiring to work.

I bought a 4 wire sensor for my Omega recently for £16 complete with the correct plug recently so it's probably not worth messing about. Can't remember where I got it, mind. :-[
