Omega General Help / Re: Idler Arm part number?
« on: 27 March 2019, 09:31:40 »
The cap above the bush is part no 90305712, but the bush itself is part of the idler arm and not available seperately - at least from Vauxhall. Maybe it is from other suppliers, but I've no info on this.

Thanks for the other P/N.  :y

Was there ever a GM part number for just the bushing on its own?

Just been offered a old stock ZF Idler arm for less than £50. Was told these are the original idler arm supplier. Can anyone please confirm this?

Have a look towards the US for an AC Delco one :y

Not finding anything on the Bay with or without the P/N?

Anyone using the Febi Bilstein idler arm and how long do they last?

I  want to keep the car for many years to come if possible.

Thanks

I suppose these days they can look it up on the computer but just to be on the safe side I've always taken the fail sheet back and left it in plain sight on the passenger seat and informed the garage that I've done so.That way they can see what it failed on and what has been repaired.

Good idea. I'll do the same.  :y

Omega General Help / Idler Arm part number?
« on: 26 March 2019, 10:27:13 »
There doesn't seem to be a part number on my idler arm, only GM12 SRD2. The number could be round the other side. Is this the correct part number 9195731 for my Omega 2.2i 2003 idler arm?

I put this part number in bay and it shows it for a Carlton. I think there might be 2 sizes.

Phoned Vauxhall and they have just said the part is now obsolete.

Thanks

Al. I have another problem.

The MOT failed on 1 rear shock and the track rod end ball joint on both sides has excessive play.

Took the drivers side wheel off first and thought I'll have a pull around with the disc to see what the play would look like for a future visual. Couldn't find any play in the ball joint that has failed on that side. Not that I have ever seen one with worn before. So not quit sure how much moment it needs to have to fail the MOT.

What I did find with horizontal movement of the wheel hub was at least a 1/4 inch vertical movement of the idler arm. Is this enough to have failed the MOT?

I don't want to put the car back in for the part MOT after fixing the shocks and track rods and find they have picked on the Idler arm afterwards. Can they do that?

Thanks

Same as Haynes...

Track rods are 60nm and shocks 90nm from memory. Will double check later, but someone will doubtless be along with a definite answer  :y

Good memory Al.  :y 15nm for the pinch bolts if anyone needs to know.  :y

Yeah I know. But I am lazy. I’ll track it up today. I hope I don’t need a centre track rod. My tyres are going to leave me broke next month 😩😩😩

Webby.

Did you find the new ATP track rod ball joints to be the problem come the end or was it something else?

I am just about to replace mine with ATP track rods that were in the box named Atec tomorrow because it failed its mot.

Thanks
Just fit them. Worst case you can replace in 10k time knowing that they lasted 10k and were effectively free :y
Don't forget, Mother Bear smacked a curb with it a while back...

Hope the damage wasn't to bad.

Al, any idea what the torque settings are for the bottom rear shock bolt and the front track rod ball joint nuts are?

Thanks

Sachs/Boge are the same firm. Those linked are genuine Sachs and are identical to the factory ones and include the correct fittings (unlike Bilstein) :y

HTH.

Well appropriated Al. Thanks :y
