Im strugling with the rear wiper on my 95 estate. It started slowing down and stopping before it finally stopped working alltogether. Got 2 different motors from ebay now, but both og them where also stuck. The motors just click and try to move but cant. Tried connecting them straight to a battery to rule out poor wiring but still just a click from all of them. Everyone i see online also seems to have a fair amount of rust around the spindle. These are built like a not servicable item and are bolted together with no easy way of getting them opened. In desperation i took an Angle grinder and cut the bolt heads of one of the mechansims to get to the gearbox inside. Everything looked fine with plenty of grease in there. My theory is that its the spindle itself that gets stuck in rust.
Have Anybody succesfully ressurected one of these? Or can a rear wiper mechanism from a newer Opel/Vauxhall be modified to fit? As all the omega rear wiper motors out there seems to be really past their prime:p

Astra G estate tailgate is a similar shape, so would possibly start there :y

Is it possible to revive one with copious amounts of Plusgas down the spindle? :-\

Had some success last night with the one i cut open. Used a lot of wd40 down the spindle, banged the spindle from both sides with a hammer and finally reattached the wiper arm to get some leverage. Spindle loosened up and on testing it with 12v the motor now turns. Will be exciting to see if i can get it patched together again, and if it got enough power to actually wipe the window. Will try after work tonight.

If you read up on it, you'll find that lubrication is included in its possible uses ..... as well as water dispersing :-* .... but you do confirm my point in that the wiper spindle could be lubricated with something better. :P

You know when things have been given the WD40 treatment, as its main purpose is to repel moisture and leaves a horrible sticky film over the areas where you've applied it. It does work initially as a lubricant, but very quickly turns waxy - and then that's the end of its lubricating properties. :'(

Ok. Point taken. Wd40 is a lubricant but not a very good one:) however i couldnt get any of the motors to operate more than Max half a turn. So went to the local breaker yard today AS they have two fl omega estates there. One of them had a rear wiper motor that looked very clean. Tested it before i left and worked fine. New motor now fitted to the car and i can finally wipe the rear window again:)
