I would presume that it is a 4 channel amp then. Make sure it can be bridged.

If it is free, then I would have the Blaupunkt... no guarantees it will work though.

All the amps I have suggested will be very cheap (under £25 I expect) and will drive the Infinity speakers quite nicely.

Splx = Nasty cheap garish chav amp. Big claims and low quality (and price). Not recommended.

MacAudio = Slightly better than Splx. Again, not recommended.

Blaupunkt = Better.

If you are looking to run a set of Infinity 605's (up front I presume) then I would suggest a 2 channel amp producing around 30-40w rms.
You don't need more than that.

I would also recommend a small sub to get the best out of the system.

Here are some recommended amps going cheap.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Problem with CDC 2

It is most likely the laser failing now. I never used to have problems with copied cd's in mine.

To be honest you would probably be better getting a decent aftermarket cd/mp3 headunit. The difference is sound quality is very noticeable.

It needs very little space behind it. The fitting brackets allow you to flat mount it, which gives you an indication. ;)

I had mine vertically mounted in the corner of my saloon and once I got the crossover frequencies sorted it was very very good!

Another option is something like an Infinity Basslink.
It is an active sub (built in amp) and is both small and powerful.
I used to have one and it was certainly up to the job! ;)

The only model to have shelf mounted speakers is the Elite as it has the Bose system with 2 6" bass drivers there.

For now I would not change the standard speakers.

You will find they sound very good when supplied a decent strength signal. I amped (and high passed) mine (4x35w rms was more than enough) and they sounded wonderful (Many thanks to Marks DTM for that advice  :y).

Changing the speakers without external amplification is not something I would recommend as the cones in decent aftermarket speakers are much stiffer and require much more power to sound good.

A dedicated sub will make a BIG differnce to the sound. A single 10" or 12" will be more than enough. Just make sure the amp is well matched to the sub.

Oh, and good luck with the wiring behind the headunit!  ;)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Power cable

Ok, do it this way.

Go through 1st grommet on passenger side, carrying the main wiring loom. Cut carefully above the loomand use a little oil to ease the cable through.

now it gets fiddly as you have to go past pollen filter and through the big grommet into the cabin.
In order to remove this you should remove the glove box for improved access.

Once you have cut though that grommet, feed the wire through completely. Now before you replace the grommets, make sure your wire is the right length in the engine bay (and has a fuse no more than 6 inches from the battery).

If it is then you want to use a little bathroom sealant on the grommets before refitting.

That is the hardest part done. Then it is simply, remove kick strips down the passenger side, feed wire underneath and replace.

Getting into the boot is quite straightforward. :)

Be aware though, a standard 5m power cable only just reaches the boot area. You wiuld need to mount a splitter for the power cable right in the corner.

The Parrot is a straightforward system and should just tap into the connectors as normal.

It is also very very good.

1. No. You have air con. The digital set up is climate control and is a heck of a lot more complex. Retro fitting would be a nightmarish job.

2. Trying to remember, but 1 would be control for electic rear blind.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: standard nav

It has to be said, by far the most sensible and cost effective solution to sat nav is a portable unit (Mio C510E being my recommendation).

It is so far ahead of what you have now it is comical to compare the 2, even with the updated maps.

The new units really are superb and will fit away easily when not in use.

Fronts are 17cm components. Be aware the mounting depth is a little over 50mm as I recall.

To be honest I would replace with speakers off another Omega.
They are suprisingly good and respond extremely well to being amped and high passed.

I have found a 30w rms amp really brings them to life! (and is painfully loud!) :)

The difference in sound with a decent aftermarket unit is very noticeable and recommended.
What headunit you go for is down to budget... we can recommend some though.

Worry not about the display, you will still have time outside temp and trip computer display.

The standard speakers are excellent, if they sound too "bassy" turn down the bass! ;)

Seriously though, what system is in the car?
