I'm convinced we're the odd ones out here, but when we go on holiday, the TheBoy extended family never doing any cooking. You're on holiday, you eat out all the time (or get an emergency pork kebab delivered to the villa at lunchtime is CBA sets in).

It was a company called Jurassic Fibre (no me neither) that installed ours, and I've only seen one house on our road get connected so far.Ours is on the wall at the end of the small front gardens so, if you get connected, they have to bury the cable under the garden. Don't think I'd trust them to take up my block paving and put it back the same.
I don't think that they could have put the connection point in the pavement by my house in a worse place if they tried. Same with the neighbours as well.
Capacitors - particularly Electrolytics - are funny beggars. There are lots of other parameters other than capacitance and voltage that matter - things like ESR and AC cycle current. If at all possible, try to look up the exact specs for the brand of capacitor you are replacing, and use one that matches those specs as closely as possible - ideally the same brand.
Not all 680uF 6V3 caps are equal, and going for the cheapest you can find is rarely a good idea.

for the £7 spent its worth an evenings fun swapping the caps and seeing what happens. i assume ( other than esr testing ) they had bulged tops which is what led you to them in the first place.
Yes, sadly, SKY Q never implemented the ability to stream if the signal was lost, which is why I ditched SKY years ago, large trees use to block the signal as soon as they had leaves on them.Yes, I can see that being a problem, seeing as you live in the middle of the countryside... ...oh, hang on a minute

I have Sky Q and all was well yesterday, I had company from lunch time till late, I put the tv on see a message saying I cound not watch tv as there was no signal.
Recorded stuff I have on the HDD isnt affescted, so watched that .
Sundays I catch up with the stuff I had recorded during the week. never tried ringing Sky as I was also busy in the back ground.
Todays scheduled programs failed to record as predicted.
So jobs done, chill time, Logged into Sky, up pops the virtual assistant, ran through the yes/no questions, last one asking if the problem was resolved = NO
Virtual assistant will now only focus on a mobile sim issue - DOH I dont have one with sky.
To me the cable has worn through with all the wind and snapped as they are never fitted properly ro start with.
Sky Q still uses the dish to receive the broadcast stuff, internet for download/catch up. Sky Stream/Glass is the one that is all pulled from the internet.
SKYSky Q works off the internet as far as I know, so if you're talking about the cable from the dish..........

I didn't switch to O2 because their in-store staff at my local branch were a bunch of total cockwombles.
