Brother called me and says the car struggles to get up to 20mph and the red battery light is on. Its happened a few times. Just drove car again and its ok? I'm afraid I don't have multimeters etc.. but does anyone know if this is more likely to be battery or alternator issue. I will look at the car this weekend but any pointers appreciated!

Omega General Help / Complete new key
« on: 01 September 2015, 22:39:56 »
It's been a while since I've been on but my brother has my old Omega and has lost his 3 button key.

I am after a complete key with blade, little chip / all innards and a cut blade - is there a one stop shop for this as I cannot seem to find stores that do the inners or cut the blade. Might someone have an old key that I could get reprogrammed?

I understand it would need a tech 2 session. I have the car pass.

Thanks!

General Car Chat / Oil sump pan for Merc e300td 1999
« on: 31 December 2013, 18:50:25 »
Can anyone recommend where to source the above / someone who can replace? Was about to put the undertray on this morning after an oil change the day before and the jack slipped cracking the oil sump pan (luckily axle stands saved me... unluckily the sump pan is cracked :'(

Damaged area is at base of pan about 5 inches long with part of it "recessed up" from the force of the jack, so i'm guessing to repair would mean taking off sump and flattening from inside?

Any pointers appreciated.

General Car Chat / Stealer Oil Promotion on TC (Just About!)
« on: 23 December 2013, 21:26:01 »
Just picked up a sheet from local stealer for trade club offers - egs. given below:
Don't think they are doing 4 for 3 anymore.

10/40 20 litre barrel - £27.95 (usually £30.25)
5/30 20 litre barrel - £59.95 (usually £60.78 ::))

Assuming you have to add vat.

They also list a 5/40 - anyone know if this is fully synthetic? 20 litres for £39.95

Can any one advise where i'm going wrong - there are 2 plastic plugs on the triangle and the lower one doesn't go back into the plastic lug on the door frame - it seems too big.

Any pointers would be appreciated :y

.... Of coming back to this!

Car was parked on a side street and I came back from work to it - I knocked up some houses nearby but no one saw anything and no cars nearby with any damage :'(

Post in wanted section coming soon I think!

I could prob. get a wing but if I get a replacement door can I keep my existing locks and is it a big job to swap over all the other gubbins?

Thanks

Omega General Help / COOLANT LOSS
« on: 19 July 2013, 18:21:51 »
SWMBO said coolant warning came on last week but only told me now as there was a lot of liquid on the driveway. Looked like coming from back of engine / hbv area.

Header tank was empty so I topped with water - no sign of anything untoward (i.e. oil) in the header tank, ran the car for 15 mins. and all ok - switched off and no leak. Restarted and let idle again and some drops of coolant were landing on lamda sensor area but could not track the source. Oil cooler plate looked ok from what I could see, hbv was not wet (no wetness in driver/passenger wells), all pipes where coolant flows were dry as was radiator.

I have obviously missed something but can anyone give any pointers? Was banking on using the car next week for a few trips :'(

Thanks

Just took another look and its been about 45 mins since I topped up and approx. 1/4 - 1/2 litre dropped on driveway falling down onto lamda sensor area but still cant trace it further :(

General Car Chat / Astra 1.6 Auto Petrol - 2002
« on: 04 June 2013, 16:50:03 »
Is it ok to use the vauxhall fully synthetic 5/30 in the above car(not sure if 8v or 16v). I have the oil and it is for dads car which does about 1500miles per year. Just worried it might be too thin.

Thanks

Omega General Help / New Header Tank and Cap ...
« on: 23 March 2013, 14:30:46 »
As above - is it worth sticking to dealer only or going elsewhere. I do not wish to compromise on quality of part and o know some things are "ok" to use non stealer parts

For ref i got quoted from the stealers:
90500223 - Tank - £40 incl. vat
90467473 - Cap (with sensor?) - £17.39 inc. vat

Thanks

Omega General Help / Windscreen Trim Metal Clip?
« on: 25 January 2013, 19:54:51 »
The drivers side windscreen trim is a bit loose - i've pushed it back and hear a click but i notice on the passenger side at the bottom of the screen there is a metal clip... the drivers side is missing - is this an aftermarket jobbie? I'm not sure as i reckon the original screen is in there.

Can i get the clip from stealers?

Thanks
