Omega General Help / Door weather strip removal?
« on: 04 November 2021, 11:50:11 »
I need to take the seal out on a rear door, I assume it's called a weather strip? runs widthways across the top of door panel and bottom of the window.

Any tips for not destroying it in the process so it can be reused ???

General Car Chat / Omega prices
« on: 06 October 2021, 20:28:02 »
As stated in another thread I have a mint 17k prefacelift 2.5 CDX https://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=148673.0
I will need to find it a suitable new home at some point but have not had a clue as to it's worth, I was pleasantly surprised to see this very nice 3.0 Elite pop up on ebay with 33k for 8k, really nice car and hope the seller gets their price. What do you guys think? is the vendor a member here I wonder?

It's the highest price I've ever seen asked for an Omega and certainly more than I would expect to get for mine so am watching with interest to see if it goes, shame it's not an auction!

General Car Chat / 96 2.5 CDX, Hope you like it !
« on: 04 September 2021, 13:20:19 »
I've spent the last few months recommissioning a 1996 Omega 2.5 V6 CDX Manual that I got from it's original owner, currently at 17915 miles.  It had been stored for 5 years and I have enjoyed recommissioning it and it has passed it's MOT this week with no advisories.

Fair bit of work done to get her up and running:

4 x New Michelin Energy 205/65/15 tyres
Fuel system replacement, Pump , filter, all rubber hosing replaced
Alternator has been fully refurbished
New Lucas Battery
Exhaust system replaced, 2 x centre pipes 1 x rear silencer
Full cambelt kit, SKF bearings and tensioner pulleys and water pump replaced,
Obviously it's been service with new fluids

Service history:

All carried out by supplying dealer with invoices and book stamps to back up, each service included engine flush, oil and filter and oil conditioner added

05/11/98 2524 miles
24/11/99 3913

I've been around Omegas for 20 yrs and owned about 20 in that time but this is pretty damn near as brand new as I've ever seen, rear arches and underside are mint  :) the interior is as new, rear seats I doubt have ever been sat in. She had the option for the "executive pack" ticked which I didn't know existed so heated leather all round, multichanger, rear blind and auto dip mirror. She drives like she's just come out of the showroom  :y

In a strange and all consuming quest for originality I am seeking an original 2.5 PFL single exit back box either new or in super duper condition, I know Vaux stopped supplying the good clamshell ones and switched to Bosal crap but it's original I want so if any of you old duffers squirreled one away when they were going cheap or kept the old one when you put an Irmscher one on then I want to hear about it !!!

Autovaux say they have an OE one but no pic and they have a habit of selling pattern stuff as original so until they supply a pic I won't be buying.

Long shot but if anyone has a pre facelift drivers front and passenger rear doors in the above colour let me know, even longer shot they need to be mint and rust free  :D

One can live in hope  ;D

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / 1994 immobiliser ecu swap?
« on: 03 December 2020, 11:02:51 »
I've had a parts request from someone who is having problems with their 1994 V6 , yes wowsers a 1994  :o!  apparent issue with the immobiliser ECU. I have an ECU kit from a 1995 V6 with the seperate remotes I can supply but would this be a case of swap everyting or needing to tape one of the supplied keys to the ignition or is the immobiliser code done via the remote ?

Not had much dealings with one this old!

TIA for answers

General Car Chat / Engine crane bought
« on: 12 November 2020, 07:15:13 »
I'm not sure how many of you tinker these days as you are all ageing  ;D I have bitten the bullet and bought myself an engine crane and spent a bit of time looking at reasonably priced options, on recommendation I plumped for this one from SGS engineering at £174 delivered, to say it is heavily engineered is an understatement and I was very impressed with it for the price after having previously borrowing similarly priced ebay specials which were a bit wobbly/shoddy to say the least.

Maybe the OOF other halves are struggling to find a pressie for you ?
