General Discussion Area / Super chilled and content with the world
« on: 01 February 2014, 21:13:33 »
Slept late this morning.

Light breakfast of toast and tea then out for a walk of a few miles with wife and hound in a cracking winters morning.

Lunch in a nice countryside cash magnet tea stop whilst managing to avoid an overspend in the shop by mrs H21.

Done some essential DIY in the house whilst other half did the weekly shopping.

Watched the rugby with a couple of beers.

Cooked a rather nice steak dinner washed down with a tidy red then browsing OOF whilst the wind gets upto a mild gale outside before I walk woof before bedtime.

At peace with the world, me....

General Car Chat / Another one lives for a new year.
« on: 12 January 2014, 20:35:57 »
Got the estate tested yesterday. Only thing the tester commented on was a tiny bit of play on R o/s wheel bearing. Not noisy or grumbling, just a bit more play than the other side.

Given it's averaged 3.5k miles per year for the past several years, guess I can live with that.

Braw!!   :)

General Discussion Area / Almost that time on five....
« on: 13 November 2013, 23:23:15 »
I know what you're thinking, punk. You're thinking "did he fire six shots or only five?" Now to tell you the truth I forgot myself in all this excitement. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and will blow you head clean off, you've gotta ask yourself a question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

General Car Chat / Suzuki swift rear brakes Q
« on: 28 October 2013, 22:43:38 »
My lad has just bought an 07 Suzuki swift from a private seller and one rear brake is really binding. Anyone any knowledge or experience of these?  Guessing its a standard lead/trail shoe arrangement and handbrake adjuster via the cable length?

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Assorted bits and bobs wanted
« on: 14 September 2013, 18:49:15 »
Looking for a couple of minor bits to tidy my 3.2 estate, viz:-

Two standard elite wheel centre caps. Happy to take a set of 4.
Set of locking wheel bolts.
Set of white wheel nut covers, including the wheel nut ones.

There was something else I was looking for as well but have had a brain fart moment and since forgotten. Will add when the grey matter clears....   :-[

General Car Chat / Eternal or stainless.....
« on: 10 August 2013, 12:20:41 »
Had a very enjoyable and spirited punt down well known country roads on Wednesday evening and really enjoyed the rasp from the Irmscher back box, thought I.

Drove the same way to work and back next day and on parking up, back box outlets were sitting at a bit of an angle.  A pigs nose has slipped off, thought I.

Put it on the ramp yesterday afternoon to discover both pipes had rusted/snapped on the way into the back box, hence the 'throaty rasp' and the box swinging freely.

I understand eternal are currently the system of choice but will also ask at a nearby place we use for powder coating and other blingtastic work that some of the customers want done to their land/range rovers.  Might get a reasonable price and let them have the fun of drilling out the rusted studs.  Actually, one is a bolt as I drilled it out when I replaced the system 3 (?) years ago with a VX replacement.

Descisions, descisions...... ;D
