Omega General Help / Re: coolant leak
« on: 30 September 2014, 18:38:00 »
hi all, I seemed to have found the leak, near my  radiator top up reservoir there is a  pump ..think its a heater valve with 2 pipes running into the bulk head behind the steering wheel.  I looked closely after leaving the engine running for a good while ...and the upper pipe that connects to the heater I think at the bulk head is leaking... the water leaking is  cold even though the engine has been well run or regardless of how long I run the car.

does this make sense to anyone?

A pressure test seems to be the best way.

Thanks all for your input.

Omega General Help / coolant leak
« on: 30 September 2014, 07:03:50 »
Hello all,   Vauxhall Omega 2.6 2003 model auto saloon.
I have noticed the car seems to be leaking coolant more regular than normal.
on my last trip I topped up the filler tank and completed a round trip of approx. 500 miles, upon my return the filler tank was approximately 50% full.. I don't think this is normal.
I have been monitoring this for a week or so  but cannot find leaks anywhere near the pipes/connections.
There are no signs of oil on the dipstick or oil filler cap.. just clean regular oil.
I have  read a little about this and a lot say it could be the water pump.. now when I start the car from cold  I can hear a slight rattle.. but it goes within a minute or so or even less, but the rest of the day nothing will be heard when firing up.
Just wondered if you good people had any pointers.
Thanks In advance
Dave.

will get back to you in a few days on hols internet connection  is poor lol.

Omega General Help / Autobox Fluid
« on: 28 March 2014, 18:58:52 »
Hi, I have owned the car for a few years now (2003 Omega 2.6) and have not changed the autobox fluid... but I am planning to have done in a couple of weeks time because I do tow a caravan and maybe that gives more reason too.

In the good old days we could check the box fluid level - How is it done on my vehicle ..or am I missing something. :-[

Thanks In Advance

Proved difficult to find a O ring  to fit correctly so used a sealant from Halfords called Granville Instant Gasket Sealant... If this does not work then I will get a replacement.
Thank all for your assistance  :y

Finally found time to check out the leak...
I split the unit unscrewing the 4 screws.. inside is a rubber  O ring which has perished in areas allowing water to make its way down the screw casings and dripping out the end... hopefully my local shop will have a replacement.. off to check will report back :)

Think this is  the same on flea bay - VAUXHALL OMEGA/ VECTRA/ SAAB BOSCH INLINE AUXILIARY 12V ELECTRIC WATER PUMP
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-VECTRA-SAAB-BOSCH-INLINE-AUXILIARY-12V-ELECTRIC-WATER-PUMP-/131110522993

These things can be costly.. considering my pump works I might try dismantling it and fitting some kind of gasket /sealant.

Hi Taxi, Thanks for your reply..
When you say connect the 2 pipes together do you mean bypass the pump completely.. if so would this not cause problems in the future?
Heater matrix pump -might look on flea bay.

Thanks

Hi, I realised I was loosing a minimal amount of water and it is minimal.. after looking everywhere I noticed  a small drip coming form this part please see the photo.
The leak is where I have added the white line and it appears to be in the area where 3 screws connect one part to another.. maybe its a gasket fix .. What is this part? or any here fixed the same.

Thanks in Advance

Hi all, had a blockage within the windscreen washer lines... I thought I  would take off the pipe connected to the pump and clean/flush the system..... whoops the pipe came off but it came off with the small plastic tube which is suppose to remain on the pump.. so now need a replacement ..
wondered if any here  have  a pump to fit a Omega 2003 2.6 saloon for window washer only (smaller pump of the two).

If you do PM  me please.
Thanks In Advance.
