Hi, Not been on here for a while as I sold my Saloon a while back and got myself an MPV, I now have a diesel estate Mondeo but want another Omega, but this time it has to be a 2.2 DTi Estate, No Gold ones though please.

I would also be interested in an Omega Estate with LPG fitted.

I would prefer manual but auto's are fine.  If I don't succeed in getting an Omega I will be going for a Freelander or sticking with what I have got. Cheers.

Vauxhall / Opel Omega 1999-2005 O/S Rear Tail Lights, Bootlid Light and Outer Light.
I will sell the set for the drivers side for £25 Paypal / Postal Order delivered or £20 Cash Collected.
Or will sell them separately for £15 each Paypal / Postal Order delivered or £12 each Collected Cash.
The outer light as per picture has a very light hardly noticable crack that does not affect the use of the light and does not allow water in.
The bootlid light has no cracks on it.

I am in Battle, East Sussex near Hastings.

I think it is fair to say I was lucky, I returned the HBV for a refund, and I had the car since June 2011 so long enough, the problem I had was, in my household we started off with one estate car and the Omega, then the Focus started playing up and got a vectra estate which turned out to have had the old fashioned sawdust in the oil trick so that dies and then got a Frontera that my other half hated and then got my hands on a Saab 9-5 2.3 Turbo Saloon which is a keeper, so No estate cars in the house, I have 3 dogs, 1 of which is a very large greyhound, and with my health problems, the Omega solved the issue for a while but I was starting to struggle in and out of it, however I was not prepared to let it go cheap! So stuck it up for a really high price, I don't believe for a moment my Omega was worth more than £1000 but really wasn't gonna make it easy to sell, the guy who bought it saw the lights and loved them, saw the certificate which shows they are VOSA approved and safe and will pass another MOT, and saw the spoiler, the towbar, loved the DRL's, I left my Bluetooth stereo system in it too, he took it for a drive, and made an offer, after a few minutes of negotiating with me thinking I will rip your hands off mate at whatever we end up at and reached the final price. He paid cash on the spot and drove it off there and then! I can honestly say, I think he will look after it.

If the Omega had been an Estate with the BMW diesel lump in it and an auto box to go with it then the Omega wouldn't have been up for sale, but to honest, the trash people talk on here and the nastiness of some people who with no call for it sit there and type abuse at each other.

The Galaxy is already unique with the wheels and I have already ordered the FLYEYE film for the rear lights. It is my 2nd Galaxy. I am sure I may end up getting another Omega in the future, but for now a 4 door is NO GOOD to me. I loved the Omega while I had it, it is one of the best cars I have ever had, but I have to make sure I have at least 1 practical car in the household, especially as we may be going down to 1 vehicle for a while next year.

The new owner of the Omega is going to be completing the list of things I hadn't got round to doing to the Omega, it will be getting new rear tyres, hbv, autobox switch cleaned, headlight replaced, climate re-gassed etc... and is going to be used to tow his caravan around.

I wont be totally leaving the Omega club, just wont be on as much.

And maybe some of you ought to be asking a little more for your cars! I learnt, If you don't ask, you don't get, and as I have said in other clubs I am with, the reason people start to expect prices of certain cars to come right down is because they see lots of other people desperate to sell theirs and set prices low for a fast sale. If everyone set there asking prices a bit higher then maybe the market wouldn't have dropped out of the bottom already.

Good luck to you all.

All the best for the New Year to you.  :y

After my Omega's faithful reliable time with me I sold it. 2001 X Reg 114k Miles, Sold for £1950 after some bartering on the price down from £2250 and used the money to buy myself a Galaxy Mk2 Cheap.

I don't have a bad word to say about my Omega and will sadly miss it. But well happy with the sale price!!!

Omega General Help / Re: Mysterious Water Leak on my 2.2
« on: 18 December 2011, 17:18:37 »
I have placed on order for click and collect with Eurocarparts an order for the Heater Bypass Valve, I ordered a 90p Bulb to push the price over £20 as they currently have one of their many 25% off deals and got the bypass valve and bulb for under £16. I would have opted for free delivery but my nearest store is 2 miles from my house, but still got to wait for the courier for other stuff lol. I have asked a mate of mine to pop over in the morning if he has got time as he is much more mechanically minded than me, and can do more physically with cars lol.

I have breakdown through Asda with homestart, and lucky for me they use my favourite recovery company down the road from me, some of the workers are ok others are only recovery drivers and the rest are mechanics so it is hit and miss who I get but they always seem to bend over backwards to try help me fault find at the side of the road at home.  They came out 3 times to help try and get my Vectra 150 Sri Estate going again, but on the 3rd call they said to me I can't call again for the same fault on the same car, so it was recover it to a local garage or leave it lol. And in the past they spent ages helping me bleed the coolant system on my BMW 728i.  I wouldn't trust AA or RAC as far as I could throw them though from experience.

But I am DETERMINED to get to the bottom of this. Just wish it wasn't sooooo flaming cold lol

I will update the situation in the morning after my mate has been if he comes lol.

Not sure I would trust a breakdown service to diagnose it properly, also unless you have home start its not really a breakdown is it?

You can tell if the water pump is leaking, take the cam belt cover off.  Lift loom out of the tray & unclip it, 15mm on the aux belt and a series or torx bolts around the side.

You can also crank the engine by hand, forget which size socket is need. While rotating it, check list for noise/play

Thanks I will explore this option. Cheers.

Lucky for me I do have homestart lol. But I will dig my tools out in the morning and do what you say and see if the pump is leaking, however, I am thoroughly confused again.

I unlocked the car and popped the bonnet, opened the window and started the engine, the noise was still there but slightly quieter from memory, the header tank is still half full, I opened the oil cap with the engine running and the noise seemed louder, I only opened the cap for about 2 seconds and of course it changed the sound of the engine, So I closed the bonnet and decided to go for a 3 mile round trip run, Drove perfect, when I got back I parked up, popped the bonnet and the engine was idling perfectly and quietly (No noises as all), coolant still at same level, no obvious signs of anything.

Any Idea's please? I am desperate!

Cheers.

Tuesday, I am being lazy and calling my breakdown service out, and getting them to properly diagnose it, then get it towed to the garage that has given me the best quote for the job, As on Monday I will be calling all my local mechanics and seeing how much they would charge for this particular job. I would call breakdown on Monday but I can't leave the house as I am waiting for couriers to deliver things for Christmas.

Possible Water Pump failure means I am no longer on the hunt for an alternator before Christmas. Thank you to everyone who PM'd me.

The mystery leak may have been found!

I started the Omega up lunch time and there was a horrible noise coming from the engine bay which sounds like a loose flywheel. So I turned the engine off, tugged all the pulleys, checked the tension of the belt, and no problems, I then noticed my coolant bottle is below the minimum but it was full yesterday.

I took the Saab down to GSF down the road from me as I don't want to risk anything with the Omega, and described the noise, they said it sounded like the water pump bearing has gone, and that the water is probably being forced out the breather on the water pump.

I am going to call my breakdown service out on Monday and get a definite diagnoses and if they confirm that the water pump has gone, I am going to get the car recovered to my local garage and get the cambelt and pullies etc... all done at the same time as it is due within the next few thousand miles.

Any of you guys got any thoughts on this. Does the noise description sound like it is the water pump or could I be barking up the wrong tree?

All and any opinions and advice is much appreciated. Cheers.

I believe the 2.0 alternator is the same as the 2.2. But not 100% Please could I have a part number when you got a spare five minutes? Cheers
