Washer pump
« on: 08 May 2018, 10:42:01 »

Seems my washer pump is starting to give up, works intermittently with a very weak stream at times. I've found a replacement on eBay, I'm assuming this is the right part no.90508709. My question is how easy is it to replace, I've seen someone mention the steps needed to remove the bottle, is it the same or is there an easier method as I only need to change the pump?

Any help would be appreciated, thanx.

If yours is the same as my FL V6, it's easy enough for even ME to do!
In my case, the pump was ok, just the filter blocked. Can you hear the pump running?

I can hear the whirring noise when trying to spray the windscreen.

Then you could be lucky and not have to buy a new pump motor. There are guides on here in the Maintenance section that are very good.
In my case, the hardest part was removing the grommet/filter that the motor spigot pushes into - and then getting it back in again! I have fat fingers, so you may well fare better.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look and see if that's the case. Found a new pump on eBay for less than £30 so it won't break the bank if it does need replacing.

This is what you're after. As per the guide, the filter does get clogged with gunge if no or little screen wash has been added.

That's exactly the guide I meant, but couldn't find it quickly enough. I use plenty of screenwash, but TB doesn't approve of the ECP brand that I use - I'll let him tell you why.....

All sorted, the filter was to blame. Thanks for the advice, and saving me a few wasted £s in the process.

Was it like a white, stringy, slime that had built up?  That's a sign that either your screenwash strength is too weak, or your screenwash is poor quality (or both ;D).

Nope, nothing white found, just looked like dirt tbh. Screenwash is never too weak, always put plenty in, can't speak to the quality of it though, usually use the Halfords stuff, or Tesco if there's nothing else, but it's rare I use that.
