Stuffing wires in the V6 harness
« on: 12 August 2018, 17:27:10 »

Having spent many hours stripping and reassembling my V6 recently, I have wearied of struggling to cram all the cables into the engine harness box. It has occured to me that it would be simpler if they were bundled with tape.

I don't know what it's called, but there is a spiral wrap product just for that purpose that is very springy and will hold the cables quite tightly. There will be someone along soon with full details, I'm sure!

They're loosely wrapped from the factory with fabric tape made of biodegradable cheese :y

It is quite bulky though. And the wires are already a tight fit in their trays.

Personally I'd use Tessa Tape

I agree wih Nick. The 2 suggested spiral bundling systems appear too bulky to fit into the harness box. It sounds like many members struggle  getting all he cables into the box as I did.

It isn't an issue if you don't remove the wiring from the cable tray ::)

Hmmm, never noticed it as a problem, and never had an issue putting wiring back in cable tray before.
