HU and SW Controls, does it go via the Canbus or is it controlled directly?

In other words if I pull out a HU and power it up on the Bench will it work with a removed Steering Wheel?

Ok, thanks Rob, next question as not got this far yet, is, is the loom from S Wheel to HU detachable easily, or is it tied up with other stuff behind the dash, or is just best to make one up some how.

Think it runs through the squib with the airbag and horn loom...

Making a loom up to connect the wheel plug with the head unit one ought to suffice. Dash loom has no end of shite tied up in it ::)

Ok thanks,

So guessing next step would be to get Pin Out info or wiring diagram, anyone?

No CAN between Omega HU and steering wheel.  Its a simple 2 wire circuit with switches presenting different resistance depending on which pressed.

Running on bench without switches will, at worse, store a code about remote buttons disconnected.  Like others, I used to do this frequently.

Ah Ok, so uses resistive pad values depending on which buttons are pressed, well a pair of wires makes its easier to wire up, so in theory as long as the S Wheel is connected before power up the HU, should work fine and ignore any previous codes about no S Wheel buttons connected.
