I believe plod have stronger springs at the back and normally run 16" wheels

Same springs , same ride or are they both totally different  :-\

Both different,  MV6, stiffer set up lower ride height, Plod, had upgraded set up normally same ride height as normal, generally the set up was for a mixture of Handling, Weight and Sleeping Policemen.

Most Estates, not all, had Self Levelling.

Wheels were mostly 15" Steels up to DBW, DBW seem to have stuck with the GLS 16" Alloys.

Probably worth adding, in my experience for what its worth, the MV6 and Plods handle very similar when being thrown about, in fact I would go as far to say the plods (if up to spec) handle better, may be something to with 17"s on the MV6's  :-\

So my springs would snap going over sleeping policemen at speed in the MV and plods would not  :-\ ;D Thanks for that answer though , i was just wondering if the plod springs would have been cheaper to replace than MV ones as i heard MV springs are a bit rare and expensive  :y

Plod will take sleeping policemen at 60, even with 18"s on :y

Apparently  :-X

Zirks MV6 comparison is fair imho... Plod springs are unbreakable as near as I can tell. To put that another way mine are still original :y

I have a set of "plod" springs that I took off a car - when emptied of all the equipment, they add at least two inches to the ride height - they're seriously tall and seriously stiff.

yes - you'd need at least half a ton of stuff in the back to make them even remotely useable

Anyone know the ident of plod springs?

Mine came with springs marked with an LA ident, ride height was at least an inch higher than stock, and firmer than Elite, obviously. Uncertain what the ident means. Car is defo a retail Elite though.

Remembering I'm not very good with the EPC, and my version is quite old ...

but it does have this ... (rear springs I'm looking at)

REAR SPRINGSSALOON (25,26,27,F69,M69,P69) FOR POLICE VEHICLE
  11X SPRING, ASSY., REAR (SET), IDENT DY   -V1999999 90271116 4 24 322 1
  3X  SPRING, ASSY., REAR (SET), IDENT LP EXC.SPORT W1000001-  90542359 4 24 020 1
  8X  SPRING, ASSY., REAR (SET) (FOR ARMOURED BODY)    90397132 4 24 361 1
9X  SPRING, ASSY., REAR (SET), IDENT LU (NOT USED WITH REMOVABLE TOWING ATTACHMENT) SPORT Y1000001-  9193196 4 24 050 1
10X SPRING, ASSY., REAR (SET), IDENT LW (USED WITH REMOVABLE TOWING ATTACHMENT)  SPORT Y1000001-  9193197 4 24 051 1

which seems to show DY, LP, LU, LW for plod ...

 :-\ :-\ :-\

What confuses this simpleton .. there are no LA springs listed at all ....
