Omega General Help / Re: Auto Gearbox
« on: 17 January 2013, 18:57:34 »
That sounds like cam sensor to me. I had the same probs on my 2.2 some few months ago. And the problem disappeared after changing the sensor.  :y

OK thanks will give that a try. Just driven from Moffat in Scotland to Durham and it only did it once, the rest of the time it was fine.
Usually it will drive normal after warming up when its a camshaft sensor problem. Also it has to be a genuine one to solve the problem. Thanks

I had the same prob just two weeks ago. I could hear the noise all over the engine but could not tell where the noise was coming from. So I removed the aux belt and shaking pulley after pulley, then I noted that the pump was gone. Changed the pump, then the noise was gone. Thanks :y

Hello honourable members, are you having a joyous new year? I’m wishing you the best in this year. I have good news about the heating of my omega. I managed to flush the matrix for almost 40 minutes thus 20 mins one way then 20 mins in reverse. I then flushed the whole system, fill new coolant. Start the engine; turn on the heat on control panel to maximum, then in less than a minute the car was heat up, now the heat is on, good bye to cold! Thanks to you generous members of this forum, you give pieces of advice without charging a penny, may the Lord bless you all. :y :y

Oh right thats cool then at least my s and ice mode may work again then im just hopeing it might fix my 1st prob but fingers crossed it does but we will find out this week some time depending how quick vauxhall get the part in stock because i dealt they have it on the shelf.   :y

Ya fingers crossed, as long as its a genuine sensor becoz when I was replacing mine, the one which was there looked very new but was a fake one, so fake sensors really gives problems. Its good that you're buying from the dealer, cheers! Merry Xmas. :y :y

And just wondering if the gearbox is in limp mode would my s and snow botton work anyway??

The Sport and Ice mode will not work when the car is in limp mode.

The car will act as if it is in Ice mode, pulling away in 3rd gear.

You can however use 1st and 2nd gear by manually selecting them with the gear lever.

Merry Xmas hon member, I had the same prob with my 2.2l 2001 z22xe, in most cases it could go in limp mode and for long period I thought it was a gearbox prob. And one of the mechs also confirmed to me that it was the gbox and needed to replace it. But one day as I started off it went in limp mode, I stopped switch off the engine for few seconds and start off again then surprising the limp mode was gone. After that, everytime it went into limp mode I could stop and restart the car and it could come out of limp mode. Sometime later one member instructed me to change the cam sensor, then after changing the cam sensor the prob was gone till now, that was ten month ago. So better think of the cam sensor mate. :y

Omega General Help / Re: Timing Belt very loose or slack
« on: 20 December 2012, 16:30:45 »

Hi sir, I forgot one thing, I understand you're breaking the 3.0, I'll soon be looking for the cat for my omega, does it use the same cat? mine is 2.2 Z22XE 2001.  I made a mistake last year when my cat flex pipe got broken I bought the aftermarket and now its gone already, so I will need a genuine secondhand one as I have seen a couple of postings instructing members not to go for the aftermarket one. please help. Thanks

You can buy weld-in replacement flexi sections on Ebay. :y
Hi sir, its unfortunate that I discarded the original old one, and the new one its the the kat itself which seem broken, any help sir? Thanks

Hello sir, hope all is going well with you, I used to trust them till last week but now I will not go to them without a second thought. The pump problem stood on my way and now that it’s over will try to flush the matrix.  By the way, I carried the test posted by Marks DTM Calib and posted by quoting him but he hasn’t replied to that, so I will carry on with the project of flushing the matrix. :y

 Hello honourable members,
As most of you are aware that I had a problem with water pump on my omega, after a great deal of hassles, the problem is now solved. The main cause of the problem was that Euro car parts sold me a wrong pump. I argued with salesman when I saw the pump but he said it works the same even though there were some visible differences. I took it back and had a refund, bought another pump from Essex Motor, fit it all ok. I also fit a new timing belt, pump, tensioner and idler. This time the belt didn’t give me probs and no more slacks.  :y :)

Did you clean the mating surface on the engine?  If it is not smooth it can cause leaks.

Hello sir, yes I cleaned the surface with smooth sandy paper, thanks
