DOne my discs
« on: 23 July 2006, 22:12:57 »

Took about 35minutes each side after I bought the tools required

18mm half inch socket - already had the breaker bar

Also require 13mm socket and I also used my rachet spanner

Mine has no 13 AND no 18 19 was too big and 3/4 was too big so I splurged and bought 8-19 1/2" and 8-22 3/8" and a cheap trolley jack

I split an 18mm socket doing the discs once, caliper bolts were that tight :-[. Eventually had to use stilsons and a scaffold pole to get them undone. Used new bolts and copperslip on the rebuild. ;)

Must admit not a top quality set but they were bl***y tight, stilsons with 6 foot of scaff pole and still took a lot of jumping up and down to undo them

Being that tight I would be worried about shearing the bolt!

A squirt of release oil may have helped...

Tried and didn't help, the rear caliper retaining bolts were nearly as bad. They were all well greased when put back together, didn't want all that hassle again.
