Title: Camshaft sensor for 1995 x20xev omega
Post by: addy on 26 July 2019, 09:19:31
Does anyone know if there is a decent version of camshaft sensor, besides the dealers such as bosch for a 1995 X20XEV omega? I have been quoted £120+vat for one from the dealer with payment upfront and a weeks wait. Even the parts person said that was expensive for what it was.

If not will have to bite the bullet. :(

Thanks in advance for all help.

Sorry if unable to get a bosch equivalent. Would i be able to use a camshaft sensor off a 2.2 engine, if I spliced the later connector in place of the original one? Also would it work?

Thanks again for any help.

delphi ones are £20 on ebay ,probably £30 at a local factor

are you 100% sure it's the sensor ?

seems to be a few variants
is the original Bosch anyway ? or some other make  ::)

This won't be a Bosch sensor. Likely a Siemens. The 2.2 16V engines are definitely Siemens. It's also used on other cars that have the same 1.8 or 2.0 engines.

EPC says the GM part number is 24445139 which supersedes 90458252. The later part is to be supplied with an additional 9201903 which appears to be an optional cable.

So this would appear to be what you need (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Siemens-New-Camshaft-Sensor-Vauxhall-Vectra-Omega-Astra-F-G-1-8-2-0-16v/273669730263?epid=249414870&hash=item3fb7fcafd7:g:z3EAAOSw6EpcSHd3).

Enceladus that is just what I was looking for.  :) So that would be a straight swap and work once connector is spliced in?

Thanks

Did you just buy the one on ebay? Somebody has.
If you did then please make sure you get the Siemens part with the cable. I mention this because in the description the item is described as:
"A Brand New Genuine VDO Siemens Camshaft Sensor with wiring harness
In a fuel parts box (CS1292G)
Vauxhall Part Number 93171450"

& also
"Brand   Intermotor
Manufacturer Part Number   18960
Type   Camshaft Sensor
Notes   Colour: Housing Colour: Black, No of Poles: 3, Part Detail: Inductive Sensor, Without Cable,
...."

AIUI you car will have square sides on the connector, unless the sensor has previously been replaced. This being the case you need the cable to modify your harness to the later type. If your car is already nodded then you don't need the cable.

The part that dave the builder linked to might also be the Siemens part with adapter cable. 'Might be' because the additional "N" in the GM number usually means not genuine GM but an aftermarket. You want a genuine Siemens. 93171450 appears to be the Vaux part number for the sensor with an adapter cable.

Enceladus I  went to the link https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Siemens-New-Camshaft-Sensor-Vauxhall-Vectra-Omega-Astra-F-G-1-8-2-0-16v/273669730263?epid=249414870&hash=item3fb7fcafd7:g:z3EAAOSw6EpcSHd3 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Siemens-New-Camshaft-Sensor-Vauxhall-Vectra-Omega-Astra-F-G-1-8-2-0-16v/273669730263?epid=249414870&hash=item3fb7fcafd7:g:z3EAAOSw6EpcSHd3) that you put in your reply.

I haven't purchased it  :'( but did save it in my ebay watch list. I sent him a message asking about the cable and sensor make.

Thanks for your help with the part number I need to update it to later version.

I have added links to show the type of connector, that is on the car now.

Is the one on the car a newer version, or old?

Thanks

Looks oval sided to me. So you already have the later sensor 24445139 and won't actually need the adaptor cable to modify your loom.
Since somebody bought the Siemens on ebay your best bet is likely the one dave the builder first linked to here (https://www.vauxhall-car-parts.co.uk/acatalog/Vauxhall-Camshaft-Sensor---93171450N.html), which purports to be genuine Vauxhall. Otherwise look for a genuine Siemens.

(93171450 seems to the part number for a later sensor with adaptor cable.)

I don't know if the 2.2 sensor which also has an oval sided connector would be a drop-in replacement. It has a different GM part number on it.
