Spent quite a bit of my shift at work typing up a spreadsheet of everything Ive done to my Omega, and how much it cost, since  May 2016. Ive kept receipts and written notes so decided to waste some time on turning it all into a nice printout to keep in a folder.
Total excluding purchase price,tax, ins.& fuel =  £2373.52 !!

£57.89 a month to own a premium motor car!  :y

You should ditch the French POS and actually use it!  :)

Couldn't possibly afford to drive it 12000 miles a year. It does about 3500 and Airfix 1 does about 8500 - hopefully.
A lot of the spending was getting it exactly how I wanted it as I never quite got there with my previous Omegas. It has only ever broken down once when the original crank sensor cried enough at around 180,000 miles. Still a few jobs I want to do  it, but they mostly involve time rather than money - I hope.
If I keep it another year or two it wont have been an expensive car to own and run in the grand scheme of things, and I find it a great car to drive. So Ive convinced myself its money well spent.
Just hope swmbo never finds out !

'Fookin ell' :)

Sounds like monsieur le frog gets almost as bored at work as I used to. ;D

Your not wrong Kevin. 12 hours and all I have to do is walk around a building half a dozen times.

In May 2016 I was running 6 Omegas for my family. I reckonned it was cheap luxury motoring. Then the dreaded rust struck, now I only have one Omega left. In the Wandering Omega thread (1 October 2019), other members have confessed to having spent serious money keeping their Omegas running, perhaps visiting Wheels in Motion and Serek.

I agree an Omega can be a joy to drive, but fear it is no longer cheap.

It's cheap compared to the alternative (a new car) but I know what you mean. Both of my parents are disabled and living at home totally dependant on carers. This situation takes up a lot of my time so I have less time for crawling under cars. Anyone in this situation knows that you cannot afford to have a car on the drive in bits as you get phone calls at all hours. I have three cars (one is my wife's admittedly), two new ones and the Omega. The Omega has been an absolutely fantastic car for the seventeen years that I've owned it and it still starts on the button every day and runs extremely well, but sadly it's time for the old girl to go. Even though I have two newer cars, I still enjoy driving the Omega. It's a very comfortable place to be and still makes me smile when I (accidentally  ::)) press the throttle too hard in sport mode.

Tip of the day:
If you have money, spend it. Otherwise you'll be self funding and you'll watch the lot go in care fees.  :'(

I nearly didn't present TBE for its MOT this year, as it needs a fair bit to get it "right".  But then I thought about it.

Its reliable (blowouts aside  >:()
Its ultra comfortable for her 80 mile round trip commute
Dirty cheap to insure, reasonable on tax, and great on fuel costs
Powerful enough to make her commute effortless
Stupidly cheap and easy to service and maintain mechanically
It still looks modern and turns heads, with its chavved up Irmscher packs on it.
Owes us sod all (paid about £3.5k in 2010)
She likes it

Downsides:
No AC
Rust

M6 closed j2 - j1. Would imagine you'd be using M42, M40 anyway but will be busier until M6 reopened

Removed the n/s/f underlay / soundproofing/ sponge from the Omega as it is soaked with several pints of water. It will take a long time to dry out before reinstalling it, but its a better option than having the floor slowly rotting away beneath the passengers feet.
I removed the same at the rear a couple of weeks ago and dried it out, before realising the water was running through from the front.
Found a misplaced grommet in the bulkhead below the pollen filter, which Im pretty confident was the cause of the problem.
My own fault, as I ran a cable through there when installing the aborted attempt at a front parking camera.
Changed the glowplugs on Airfix 1, cleared the fault code which put the soanner light off, so now hopefully ready for MOT on Friday.
Last job was to affix the sticker on the inside of the rear window which swmbo had made for me.

 ;D like that ;)

Well, it made it back home... 520 miles on just under a tank, say 11 gallons... So all in all 47mpg. Which is nice.  8)

It has used a litre and a half of oil in the process  :-X

Before I swapped out the engine and gearbox, my 1989 escort 1.3 popular used to do about 100miles to the pint. Of oil.  ;D

It was great for disposing of used engine oil.  :y
