Would they need to verify this? I can't remember who I was insured with and getting hold of this info would be a major ballache but not impossible

General Car Chat / How to keep NCB without car

Hello gents and lady  :-*

I sold my car last June and cancelled the insurance mid policy  and have 14 years NCB.

Currently I am a named driver on my stepsons policy so don't need my own car but plan to buy one next year.

So does the two year rule begin from the date I last had insurance which would be June 2020 or the end of a 12 month policy which would be Sept 2019?

KJ03 WXS, the license plate and the colour combo seem very familiar. I'm sure I owned that in 2019 ;D

Bodywork was tatty when I bought it but mechanically it was alright. Needed cambelt and camcovers and pretty much all the usual Omega problems but reliable for the time I owned it other than a rapidly deflating rear tyre. The buyer told me he wanted the engine out of it for his kit car.

I always believed it would be a future classic but STEMO convinced me otherwise so I let it go for £400 nicker

Mileage was in the 140s iirc

I am actually considering the IS300H along with the GS450H. Most RWD cars are not ideal for three in the back due to the transmission tunnel hump and the raised centre seat. Although the Omega has a pretty good rear bench to seat three.

We have a MK2 focus and my kids reckon it's more spacious in the back than in the F30 I had. Not sure I believe that.

Thanks Al  ;D

I think I'll get a Lexus. Reliable at any age

So did you find a suitable replacement?

 :)
Not yet.  The search has become less urgent, as she isn't having to commute yet, and she there is an LPG station not far from her dad's place, whom she visits weekly.

Once she is back commuting, the search will have to intensify.

I will also be on the lookout for a new car soon, ideally a RWD petrol saloon. I have around £10k to spend but most of them within this price range are over 10 years old
Trouble with RWD is they tend to be (supposedly) premium marques and thus £10k doesn't go far. And petrol narrows an already difficult search.

Yeah and these premium marques become more unreliable as they age.

Al, I don't think I could live with that ironing board attached to that car  :-X, otherwise it's a decent looking car. I'm surprised a 13 year old vauxhall costs so much  :o

Do you mean Lepsons amba?

Have you used them before? How does the process work? Do you leave the car with them, or wheels only? Never had wheels refurbished before but now I have a car with mint wheels, it does make a big difference to the overall look of the car so any car I buy now will get wheels done

Wash it yourself. Lazy sod. :)

Can we do this?  Most houses in Liverpool don't have a drive  :P

No different from London. I want to wash my car and don't have a drive but have a secluded area to work in
Good job I'm nowhere near there, then   ::)

So you have moved then?  ;D
