If it is manifold gasket, if its drivers side, not too bad apparently. Passenger side a bit more 'challenging'

Brake pad minimum thickenss is 1.5mm across the entire pad surface....

£800 is ok, but no harm in investigating and battering the price down.

As a matter of course all fluids and servicable parts would be changed if it were me  :y

The noise might go away after an oil change - gunge in the oilways?  If you are not sure about how often the oil has been changed a few frequent changes i.e. every 2-3K (should be done every 5K) will help clear out any cr*p
