Another Speaker Upgrade Thread (fao dave dnd)
« on: 29 February 2016, 16:28:00 »

Hi

I need to replace all 4 speakers as 1 in front and rear have started quacking. Ill be running them off the headunit (cant be bothered with amps wiring etc) which is a sony dsx s100. I know the fronts need the (corsa?) adapters to fit, do the rears need adapters aswell?

What is recommended?

Many thanks

Jim

I would go with the Clarion speakers all round

If you have separate tweeters in the car, then go for the Clarion Component sets and replace those too.

I have no idea what size speakers you need as cannot see them from here, but if you let me know what sizes you are after, I can advise further

PreFL Elite Estate, unless very early, will have Bose set up -

Front Doors - 5cm Tweeter (Mirror) / 16.5cm Main (Door)
Rear Doors - 9cm Main, (some very early ones also had 5cm Tweeter sharing the cover, hence the odd cover shape)
Rear Luggage - Hidden single Sub Bass Box in side panel with 13cm single Dual Coil Sub.

As per FAQ - http://images.omegaowners.com/documents/audio/BoseOmegaEstate_large.jpg

Thanks for the replies, mine is non Bose.

16.5cm for fronts and 13cm for rears.

I have an Infinity 12" sub which I move between my Omega and Vectra b GSi (which I coincidentally want to upgrade the speakers in too)

Probably got Tweeters in the rear doors as well then, what was the original HU, Philips 80X something, you may also have a Philips Amp tucked away somewhere which could have been fitted to early CDX and Elites.

Original HU was a SC303.

Got 16.5 Infinity's in the front of my facelift (with Bose) and they sound great, much better than the standard rubbish. Had them in my 95 estate originally and just cut the original speakers out of the original plastic housing and modded them, in there 8 years or so and no trouble whatsoever.
