Fans will kick in quite a lot as the weather warms up or if you are in slow traffic.

Needle in the middle of the gauge is fine.

Ok in the UK.
The stat starts to open at 92c and is fully open at 107c
I find that the fans cut in at about 100c.
But in your part of the world with much higher day time temps these values maybe different.

I know as i work in new car manufacture that the cut in temp of the fans and the duration of the fan running time in far greater for your part of the world.

I know this doesnt answer your question but if your fans are running constantly its probable normal for your area.

Well, thanks a lot for the number of replies.

Rusty-doors, i think you are right ... i find this kind of weird though ... i previously had a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant , and i guess i never heard its fans running, except when using a/c. but, man, the fans of the Omega V6 run at very high speeds and make a lot of noise! anyway, i think the setup is kinda different for german built cars. my usual running temperature is actually between 85 - 90 but sometimes climbs to between 95 - 100 when stuck in traffic. So, most probably, i should not have anything to worry about even if the fans work a lot, right?
