Sorry not a mechanic so not sure whats its called. I have pictures but no way to post them. Anyway what i think is the bell housing would this have a access panel. The reason i ask is i was cleaning some oil off the bottom of the undertray and i notice a rectangle hole. When i look into it i can see a large cog. If somebody that can post pictures i will text or email them over.

That's what I was asking and if so where would I get one and any idea why mine has disappeared

Degrease and a strip good quality duct tape.
Or speed tape if you can source some without paying for it.

You could argue that its a flex plate if the car has a proper (auto)gearbox ::)
The cog, in both cases, is the starter ring. :y :y

I think there just is a hole there.
