Bmw x3 bell housing
« on: 29 June 2019, 17:11:58 »

Sorry not a mechanic so not sure whats its called. I have pictures but no way to post them. Anyway what i think is the bell housing would this have a access panel. The reason i ask is i was cleaning some oil off the bottom of the undertray and i notice a rectangle hole. When i look into it i can see a large cog. If somebody that can post pictures i will text or email them over.

Large cog? You mean the fly wheel?

It's possible that there should be a grommet/cover thing to stop crud getting in there.  :-\

You right, of course, but I couldn't quite grasp what the question was.  :-\

Degrease and a strip good quality duct tape.

Or speed tape if you can source some without paying for it.

You could argue that its a flex plate if the car has a proper (auto)gearbox  ::)

The cog, in both cases, is the starter ring.  :y :y
