Omega General Help / Cambelt change side jobs
« on: 20 August 2018, 14:05:02 »
Hi guys, I'm planning to do a cambelt job in week or two, have all the parts already bought and in garage.
I'm thinking about replacing both sensors screwed into coolant radiator while I'm there as they seem to be hard to reach without all the air hoses out.
I know one sensor is a fan switch but I don't know what the other is for..?
And does anyone have part numbers for those sensors?
Thanks, Stan

Yes....used one are risky to buy. They're all warped esp. the side with oil filler hole. Mine is having a really small leak on that side. Still have 2 spair pairs in garage but they are all slightly warped. I'm searching for vectra's alu cam covers but IF they appear the price is just over the top. I decided to live with that small leak which is BTW much smaller than it was when I bought the car. It was like it ran on steam not gasoline

Well I got my Omega back two days ago and picked up both strips from old wheel arches. They have rust all over
their  sticky surface so I can't reuse them. I will find another way.... But now she's like new....I'm glad I had rust professionaly sorted out....It wasn't that expensive too, I paid 320€ for hands + both panels I bought.

Hi guys, I'm without my Omega this week due to rust repair - replacement of both rear panels.
I'm searching for part number or at least a name of the black piece of protection that is glued on the body panel and
is hidden when the door is shut. It follows the rear arch line from cill covers toward the lock on the panel.
Curently searcing for a pic of it :-\

I have 3 sets of plastic cam covers. Replaced them numerous times and only one  passenger side cover is straight enough to make a good seal. All others have warped outer edge and wouldn't seal properly even with GM gasket. There's always a leak somewhere. The solution would be a new unused set of plastic straight covers which are expensive like they're made of gold or simply a set of alloy ones. Breather and vacuum hoses  are clean as new

Can't get those anywhere. I'm planning to repair rusty rear panels  this month followed by cambelt change and everything that goes with it, oil cooler too....I'll see if I'll replace leaking AC compressor ....long story short - if anyone has Veccy's  alloy cam covers just laying around for affordable price it would be the right moment to change them while I have it all appart.

Omega General Help / Re: Another air con question
« on: 01 June 2018, 13:40:22 »
I'm uploading video now, will post a link when it's done. Flap opens when AC setting on high, closes when setting is on low so no problem there it seems. I reset aircon, pressed "A" button a few times, still blowing cool not cold

And yet another question...Recirculating flap behind the pollen filter is closed...When does it open? How to check if it works? Could failed flap couse me air con problems like i have?

Done with cleaning the condenser, it made no difference so no result there. Interesting thing is that (UK side) passenger side of condenser stays hot all the time and driver side is just cold. Also that widened part of AC which is above oil dipstick is warm. I remember that part was freezing cold on previous Omega. Fans work, compressor kicks in I also removed pollen filter but it made no difference...I don't know what would be the problem here  :'(

Pollen filter is 6 months old and still clean, I checked it today...I hope link above works....might be one of the causes
