Fired up the CD estate today which had been stood still since last August, gave it a good wash and cleaned all the moss and algae off it, not that it's going anywhere.......  no MOT, and probably worth no more than £100, I've got the space to store it and probably worth more to me as a source of spare parts to keep the CDX going, should that day arise.

Particular attention paid to the lower door seals, and keeping any rot at bay, even though there's some rust coming through on the rear arches. When we get some decent weather, I may just take the sill covers off to see if it might see another day on the road, but for now it's going nowhere.  :'(

Hi Sir Tigger

Lahr is a sleepy little town near the French border. But nice little hotels - not expensive. Beer is better taken from Northern Germany, my real hometown - Bremen. Here around is wine country, because Lahr belongs to the warmest corner of Germany. Sometimes a little mediterranean weather.

When you need a party zone, you have to go 30 miles south on the A5 (no speed limit  :D) to Freiburg.

If some oof`ers came over here, I can offer a little "Omega welding workshop" over the weekend.

Hi Tick Tock

Have to do the same over the near future on my 98 saloon. The car is not in use since November 2016, but pretty welded with new Tuev (until 6/18), new brakes and new front suspension. I will do registration next year.

Replaced "wrong" driver side cam cover gasket...using Vectra's gasket... :-X I know I'm going to hell for this :P , a bit of fidelling because half moons are added from Omega's gasket but it holds...for now at least. I had enough of leaking directly on to exhaust manifold

Just gave it a good wash and then dried it properly - like drying a baby. gently with microfiber towels.

Dried it properly with microfibre towels? How is that properly? I use beer: chuck a couple of buckets of soapy water over the car, then a couple of clear water, open a beer and let the sun dry it. Much, much easier ;)

That's how I wash the 190, as its paintwork is beyond help. The omega is still shiny shiny though, so I try to keep it that way.

Front pads are fine, but notice some corrosion forming around the inner wing welded strap
Spin off the corrosion & paint on some Birchwood Casey rust treatment.
Nitric acid mix & highly corrosive, but the rusted area starts to foam up niceley
squirt on some isoprop to wash off the tratment & it air dries real quick.
paint on Red oxide/zinc & I`ll do the other side tomorrow  :y
