.....exactly what is ping and what do the figures mean?

I'm getting 'ping figures' in the 30-40 range. :y

I'm getting 'ping figures' in the 30-40 range. :y
Its a meaningless figure that gamers and other thickos too stupid to understand basic technology wank themselves over.


Essentially you send out an echo request to a distant location, and that distant location replies.  It can be used to check the other end is responding/contactable, but you can also time the time between when you send the echo and when it replies.  But its meaningless, because busy networks tend to reduce it's priority over more important traffic, and most firewalls might drop it completely.

I can honestly say I have never self-abused to anything related to ping....... ;) ;D ;D
