Helped a mate dismantle a rather sad 206. Safe to say that it's one less French car on the road 8)

Drove it to Norwich and back, one direction loaded up with all the parts to rebuild the V8 and back empty, after dropping the V8 flywheel on my foot while loading..

..foot still hurts.

Averaged about 30mpg on the return trip - not bad for a TDV8 with the aerodynamics of a house.

I am in the middle of installing a little parking camera in the front bumper. MotoGP followed by F1 is now stopping play for a while though.

Investigated the lack of dipped beam on the drivers side of the RRS..

Drivers side headlamp out (two clips, very nice!) and unplugged, passenger side headlamp out, swapped the ballasts and tried again.. still no drivers dipped beam. Swapped the bulbs and now no passenger side dipped beam.

So at least it's just a bulb and nothing more expensive! Bulbs on order (might as well replace both) so that's a job for Monday when they turn up.

Not mine, but my mother's Focus.

The original 7 year-old battery failed yesterday afternoon at the supermarket. So I took my slave starter and got them going Just before the AA man arrived. Bought a new Bosch battery on the way home(£67 at ECP) and fitted it this morning as it's crammed in there and I didn't want to faff about with a hot engine.

Just taken a load of stuff to the tip and for the first time in the 15months she has owned it, the stop-start works ???

Fitted a new (to me) fuel flap lock mechanism on the V70, but it still didn't work.  >:(  ::)

Thinking it must be a wiring fault or dodgy relay I went in to have a quick google to discover that the fuel flap lock operates on a time delay and locks about 20 minutes after you've locked the car.  :-[  ::)

So it seems that it has always worked as it should, I'm a complete numpty and I now have a spare fuel flap lock for a V70!  :-X

FFS!  >:(  ;D
