General Discussion Area / Laptop and sound system advice please.
« on: 14 January 2018, 10:39:45 »
Mrs AA has a friend who is a dance teacher.

She wants to go digital, and get rid of playing CD's.

Software not a problem, I've sorted that out for her.

Thing I'm not gelled up on is, what does she need to interface her laptop (no Bluetooth) to her powered speakers and a mike.

If a hall she's hired, has a built in sound system, how does she plug her laptop into it?

Budget is tight.

General Car Chat / Piggy back fuses
« on: 04 October 2017, 18:32:14 »
I'm wiring in a dash cam to one of the auxiliary socket fuses, bit concerned about using the piggy back fuse as the auxiliary socket is rated at 15amps and the dash cam is 1.5amps.

Any ideas to the correct way of using the piggy back fuse please?

General Car Chat / Charging Leisure Batteries on the move II
« on: 02 August 2017, 12:55:47 »
"Current MB's use the alternator differently to older models.

Most have variable output alternators to help reduce fuel consumption.

In most cases once a battery is fully charged they hold battery voltage between 12.6v-13v to reduce fuel consumption. If you apply the brakes then the voltage may increase to as much as 15v to recoup the "free" energy, if accelerating then it may drop as low as 12v. The engine ECU determines what voltage it wants to maintain at the battery based on load/temps/electrical consumers etc.

All Bluefficiency models have this, and most other current models."

So, the leisure battery on my caravan may not always be at full charge, if I read the above correctly, as it will be balanced to the car battery.

If this is true, is there a way around the problem.

Car electric experts your thoughts please.

General Car Chat / Merc 2 battery question.
« on: 16 July 2017, 07:44:08 »
From time to time I like to codition charge my car battery to try and keep it in tip top condition.

The Merc has 2 batteries, one undr the bonnet and one in the boot.

There is a dedicated charging point under the bonnet for attaching  the + and - clamps from the charger.

Question is, does the charger then try to charge both batteries at the same time?

If it does, I can't see how it could go through the conditining cycles :-\
